Food Boredom
I am 9 months out and 5 lbs. below my goal weight. I am very bored with my food. Lunch/quick meals are especially boring. I need more solid foods. I always have yogurt and cottage cheese, but want to eat something more dense...any ideas? I also need an idea for a crunchy snack other than nuts and carrots. I know I'm supposed to limit snacks, but I really think I need one between lunch and dinner. Perhaps I need to eat more fat at lunch to satisfy me until dinner. Any suggestions? I have an appointment with the nutritionist coming up, but would like some ideas before then! Thanks!!
Chickpeas are a great snack. I buy them dried and cook them myself so that I can leave them firmer. Just make sure to stir in a lot of salt after your drain them. I always need a snack between lunch and dinner. Snacks are not the problem. Grazing is the problem. I plan four to five meals per day. Don't worry so much about what is a snack or a meal and focus on the total number of times you eat each day instead.
Hard-boiled eggs, left-over rotisserie chicken, and deli meats make great easy lunches and meals. I commonly make chicken salad or 2 slices of ham with 1 oz cheese and 1/4 serving chickpeas for lunches.

I have ribeye a lot. If I start to get too bored, I'll really mix things up and throw in some steak tips, a New York Strip, and maybe a cheeseburger. That's true variety.

Food boredom is on my plan to help make food less an obsession and more as a nutritionally necessity instead. It also helps to think of meals like putting premium gas in an expensive car you want to run better and last longer. Dense proteins that have a lot of holding power for me are meats. A crunchy snack idea is Nacho Cheese flavored Beanitos chips made from navy beans: a serving has 4 g protein, 6 g fiber, 0 g sugar, and 140 calories. Endnote re food boredom: The first six years of our marriage, my DH ate a bowl of Life cereal every single morning all of those six years. One day, out of the blue, our breakfast routine was broken with this conversation..."I'm really kinda getting tired of Life cereal." "I only buy it because you eat it." "I only eat it because you buy it." "I can buy you a different kind?" "Yeah, okay."

Crunchy snacks - surpisingly pork rinds are more proteins than fat and can be used instead of chips for salsa or guacamole...
Also - cheese crisps - crisps made entirely from cheese - are very popular - you can make them yourself or buy from most stores..
