I'm awaiting my approval for revision I was in the lobby of the waiting room and their were 2 ladies complaining of not losing much weight. The one lady said she "was able" to eat pasta and cake for her sons birthday at Olive Garden and she's only 6 weeks out from rny....

I have so many issues with this and one of them is frustrated that I'm not approved to get my broke. Tool fixed because when I can swallow .... I use my tools the right way .

what in the world is wrong here ? Was the surgery not huge enough of an event to cause her to not realize she needs to eat well.

and I don't have a rny but is that even possible and why would you not be to afraid to even try this

WHAT?!?!?!?  I think this goes to not using the tool for it's intended purpose which is a life style change and thinking it is more of a quick fix.  I am only al ittle over 3 months out and honestly....the thought of cake kinda makes me nauseous let alone pasta.  I tried 1 raviolli....just 1 and it did not go so well....needless to say I have no desire for raviolli currently!!  I approached the surgery as a life style change and did 10+ years of reserch on it....I am also to a point where I WANTED the change and WANTED a better lifestyle....I WANTED to be healthier and have to put in the work to get there, hence why I begrudgingly go to the gym or let Richard Simmons kick my butt 4-5 days a week....I WANT to not have to sneak a seat belt extension in my backpack when I fly,....which I didn't have to use 1 a few weeks ago, the BEST FEELING EVER or not have to scan a resturant or chair to see if I can fit in it!!!  There are so many things I WANT out of life and this tool is the start to help with it only....NOT to take it for granted and be a statistic that regains all the weight and complains because they don't understand why it didn't work.  Don't be the statistic, stick to your guns and use it as a helping tool not as a means to all of it.

Some people just don't get that surgery isn't like a diet where you could start again and again.  It's a one shot opportunity to  get the weight off as fast as possible  before your body figures out how to absorb more.  It's a big mental game that many don't understanding or embrace.

Remember these two ladies when you suffer from wls diet fatigue and want to add more exciting foods into your repetoire.

There are way too many people who are get WLS and still think that the tool is going to do the job.  And they can relax.  I've see soo many IRL and on line not taking personal responsibilities.  They find excuses left and right...

This is more than scary... Because some of to them end up as heavy, in not worse, as before WLS with added side effects from WLS , like anemia, vitamins or minerals deficiencies, ulcers, etc etc.

I would have told them "Thank you", and just left it at that. The MOST valuable advice, is the advice that shows you what NOT to do.

They are the truly lost. The only thing they can provide is a cautionary tale. Very valuable.

Does this place you are going to not provide nutritional education to people receiving surgery?

just because the office offers Nutritional classes and support it does not mean people pay attention...

or read the literature they get..

8 years ago I had to attend 8 weekly pre surgery meetings...(at least) . Plus be in a class with nutritionist, plus plus...  it does not mean anything...

Don't assume that people who have WLS are self-aware. The things I've seen posted here sometimes blow my mind. Tacos a week after surgery? Meat loaf two days after surgery? No clue what you should or shouldn't eat after surgery? All said.

The world is filled with stupid people. We have our quota.
