dogOkay, so my wife brings home yet another dog sweater from Wally's last week. It's her hobby I guess. She is always buying clothes for the kids, or the dog. My MIL also has started making them. It is family thing evidently. He is a short hair, so he loves having on anything. He's rather muscular though so it always has to be

 looser rather than tighter.

Last week, I get a call from my neighbor Pam. She is building a big house with her Hubby and their 3 Saint Bernard's on a 7 acre complex 1 mile up the road from me. I have helped them on occasion, nice people for sure. Anyway, the call. She calls me to say my dog bullet (he runs REALLY fast) is "prancing around her front yard" with a sweater on. Just back and forth in front of the living room window. The 3 dogs inside wanted to go play, but they were about to get a bath. She sent him home and that was pretty much the end of it.

Yesterday, my phone rings. It's Pam. "Could you please call me if the 'kids' show up" They took off right after she got and put on their what? Their new sweater's she had just got at Wally's is what. About 5 minutes after we get off the phone. 3 St. Bernard's with pretty sweaters show up at my house. They prance around outside the foyer window. I let my bully out and by the time I got my phone, they split. I will get a picture of those big guys. Here's my baby.

You'd think. You know how a dog will freak out when you get the car keys, or a leash. He does that when my daughter breaks out his raincoat, sweater, whatever. He's a HAM. He will not let you take it off either. So, we just went with it.

My dog hates his sweater but goes NUTS when I take it out, because he knows it means we're going out for walkies.

Gary, your boy Bullet is gorgeous!  I am smiling from ear to ear about the fact that Bullet loves clothes!  Dogs have such distinct personalities, and sounds like your boy does for sure. Love that he has three St. Bernard "friends" up the street to hang out with and they can all prance around in their sweaters, that's priceless!  Next time have cookies or kibble in your hand, get your phone out and ready to take a pic and yell "COOKIE" and when they all look SNAP the pic, works every time with my two dogs LOL LOL

Great story, always love seeing pics of dogs!

Great idea! I will post them as soon as I get them. I'm currently building a totem pole on my front yard so I'm out there constantly.

I see deer just about every day. But the best are the squirrels. They HATE Bullet with the purplest of passion. When we walk the forest in the mornings. He runs from tree to tree and smells EVERYTHING. They go up in the trees and throw pine cones at him, and chirp their butts off. I love my walk, but this makes it downright fun.

Thank you for the nice words Daisy. You're always so positive and supportive to everyone here. Thank You.

You are very welcome, not necessary to thank me Gary.  But love that the squirrels hate Bullet, that is hilarious. One of these days he is going to catch one for sure, Pit Bulls are so fast and smart!

Please post some pics of your Totem pole!! What a fabulous idea, great exercise, great creativity!  That sounds super cool.

I used to have a big pear tree.  The squirrels would pick a pear, take one bite out of it and then throw it at us.

Your Bullet has such pretty blue eyes.

Thank you,

He's a rescue that was 2 days away from the gallows. I got a call from Kitsap Humane in WA. They only needed me to pay his air fare, and go get him from Sea-Tac. I was told all of this "RED FLAG" stuff about him by K.H.S.

My oldest daughter has autism, and when I got him out of the car from the Airport, she saw him and started to cry. She was 13, it was the FIRST time she ever cried in her life. He ran to her and stood immediately in front of her to protect her. They have been welded together ever since. He will sleep at the foot of her bad EVERY single night for almost 4 years now. He never leaves her side. Only if she is gone or with me do I have a chance to hang with him.

The funny part is. He was totally trained when I picked him up. Commands, potty, the whole nine. The reason they were gonna put him down? He's a major puller. Impossible on the leash. Has drug my son thru the park before. Never bites or aggressive. Here is one more.

Your story gives me tears of happiness... how wonderful that Bullet and your daughter found each other. How amazing for you and your family to open your hearts and home to a rescue dog that was "deemed" a problem dog.  And I am just shocked at the mere idea that a dog could be put down because it pulls on a leash. Most INSANE thing I have ever heard.  God Bless you for saving him. As White Dove said it was meant to be.  I love that he is your daughters BFF and protector.

My first day or two after my WLS I was in a lot of pain and walking from our master bedroom on the second floor of our house down to the main level to the kitchen was hard and very painful.  My black Lab Oliver who normally runs down the stairs ahead of me cuz he thinks he is getting a cookie (and he usually does LOL LOL) well right after surgery I was holding the hand rail down the stairs with one hand and taking one stair at a time, doesn't he come right beside me and he raised his head up so my one hand rested on his head, as I took a step down, he took a step down, and he did that the whole way down the stairs, one at time, and he had to have my hand on his head. He somehow "knew" I was in pain and needed help/guidance,he would not leave my side until I was safely down the stairs. Pets are phenomenal.
