Countdown is on...feeling a bit anxious.. all these ponderings
I'll chime in and add to the consensus. You will be amazed at how relatively normally you will be able to eat as time goes by. I'm I think about four years out... or five? Something like that. Anyway, I just ate dinner. Carne asada, fake refried beans (I cook the beans, give 'em a couple of short bursts on the lowest blender setting, then spray Pam in a frying pan, add in some minced onion and then after a couple of minutes add the beans), and a nice big salad.
As a previous poster mentioned, my tummy is a little noisier now after eating raw veggies, but I can and do eat and enjoy them. For a couple of years I would precede salads (especially if they had peppers or cucumbers) with Beano, to avoid occasionally painful upper digestive track gas. (I don't mind the tooting, that's just life, but who wants pain?)
This heavy restrictions and oh-so-careful management will be for a period. How long varies from person to person. But it definitely isn't that intense for the rest of your life.
In time you can eat most things - good and bad.
Pre-op there are so many unknowns that it is easy to panic and worry over tiny details. I have found that almost 95% of the things I worried over as a pre-op were non issues and most of what I struggle with didn't even occur to me before hand. I may be wierd, but for me that is true.
Don't let fear take over - from your previous posts, you are clearly researching, preparing and trying to give yourself the best chances for success. I think you are off to a good start!
