What's On Your Thursday Menu, RNYers?
Good Morning all! First off, today is my Friday, so if someone can kick off the post tomorrow, that'd be awesome. I'm not doing anything fab, though, so don't get all jealous. My husband is having a colonoscopy and I need to chauffeur. The last time he had one, he was hilarious when he was coming out of the anesthesia, so I'm kind of looking forward to it. I'm also looking forward to tomorrow night, because my stubborn, undisciplined beagle is going to school. LMAO I have no idea how this is going to go down, because he's had no training whatsoever in his 7 or 8 years and he is obstinate. They assured us they've trained older dogs and that they can help, but even so, these instructors better be prepared. Bagel's a pain in the ass.
QOTD! I think I may have asked this before, but what are you afraid of? I don't like birds. Like AT ALL. I don't like them flying around outside or in cages or heaven forbid, if they are just out or something, like a pet store. shudder My BIL has swans and they scare the **** out of me. They cornered me in the car once when I pulled into his driveway and I had to call him to come out and shoo them away. I almost cried. I do, however, like to look at pictures of cardinals. Because they're pretty. LMAO So, what's your phobia?
B: coffee, Friendship Fit to Go 4% cottage cheese and salt and pepper pork rinds
S: Power Crunch crisp bar in chocolate brownie wonder. Maybe. Cottage cheese keeps me full for a while so this may not happen.
L: 2 oz. deli chicken breast on 40 calorie multigrain toast spread with a LC wedge.
D: ham/cheese omelet (one whole egg, one egg white) with 3 pieces turkey bacon
TOTALS: Cals: 818 Protein: 82 Carbs: 48 Fat: 36
I'm feeling kind of meh about this menu, so I reserve the right to change it as I see fit! LOL Have a great day and a super great weekend!
Terrified of mice. If I think I hear one in the house I will get up and look for it all night. Never had onein this house, but the noise is enough.
So far I plan on oxy(carb free) and a skinny peppermint mocha. I am feeling better today but very sore. Yesterday I only hit 62 proteins but it will be ok.
Not sure what else I will eat because I can barely swallow. I do have some wendys chili so probably that.
Doctor said my stones were golf ball sized. I am glad to be rid of it all. I am very sore but I feel alot better systemically.
You'll feel even better tomorrow. It sounds like you're doing great, really.

Honestly, I think it was affecting me alot more than I realized and I am feeling alot better systemically even though I am really sore.
Morning AV and all.
I was a really lazy ******* yesterday. I really wore myself out Tuesday, and it felt like I napped for 30 minutes out of every hour yesterday. So I ate fewer calories than I normally would have. But the following is about as close to a routine day of eating for me as I get. A couple of Quest bars, a ham and cheese sandwich, and a steak are my true staples. The other snack depends on what's in the fridge. If not sausages, some additional deli meat or cheddar cheese. You know, so I have a MUCH more diverse diet.

Not meaning to be too personal, Grim, but do you have other people sharing your refrigerator/cupboards? My brain meandered to this thought after reading your "depends on what's in the fridge" comment. I admire your discipline and honesty, and so I would appreciate hearing your insights of how you manage the siren song of foods in your cupboards/fridge that are OK for the other people.
This is a great challenge for me. We don't really have a lot of garbage, but we do have things that are "garbage" for me. (Pepperidge Farms Goldfish Crackers right now.) I know some people will advise to just purge everything I can't have out of the cupboards, that this purge would be good for my family too, but my family did not have the surgery, and they can have a reasonable and healthy diet without being as restrictive as I am.
My husband, for example, is a swimmer/biker/runner, super fit, very health conscious, and also a gourmet chef who loves his food, including things he bakes. My oldest teen is a very active almost-18-yr-old, and although he loves meat (which I make a lot of), he also loves his carbs, and so do his friends who come over--and I want them to come over, and I want this son to want to come home for dinner now and in the future. My second teen is 13, and he is kind of an air fern--anything that is even remotely like food that goes into his mouth is good. My third son--11--struggles with his weight. I feel the path for him is like that for me: food is always around us, and we have to learn to make good choices no matter what is around.
This is not just a personal challenge for me from an eating/habits point of view, but also for me as a parent--in that parent-guilt way--wondering if I am doing right by my family.
Anyhow, what do your years of experience, and of reading on the boards, tell you?
I only have to worry about feeding myself, so it's not an issue. There are only a handful of odd items in my cabinets and fridge, and those are what didn't get used at holidays. There's a bag of some kind of mini creamed onion things in the freezer that keeps falling out. One of these days it will land on my foot and I'll throw it out.
I imagine it is much, much harder living with others, and cooking for a family, especially kids. I really don't have any advice. On the rare day that I bring home crap, I eat it all. And I have no one else to blame. You have it much harder. My days of feeding others is long gone. Someone will have to get me pregnant before it happens again.

Thanks for the thoughts. mini creamed onion things sound nasty!
p.s. When you are pregnant, be sure to name the baby Grimmer Jr. You can call him Grimey.
MY BF is normie... There are a lot of food in the house he eats that I don't. Some food are more tempting than others.
Some foods - are "o hell no, I'll eat it when I see it " so we do not have them in the house when he is not there or never. Meaning: we can buy that for him - but he better takes that to work - or hide them from me so I can't see it or find it.
There are some - that I may be tempted.. so we keep them away - in the high cupboards - I need a stool to access that.. . He is taller - so he can just reach and get it- if he wants it.
Some things we keep frozen - i.e. extra cake or cookies for him. Wrapped and frozen - he can take as much or as little at a time..
It does help that he is not a snacker. He eats 2 or 3 meals... and when we are together - he often forgets we have the "treats for him" .
Just yesterday I bought a box of poundcakes (from sam's). He may eat a slice or 2 with dinner - if I serve that... so typically I divide each poundcake in 2 , wrap them to prevent freezer burns and I may take 1/2 for him to have for the weekend.. or to take to work.. We keep his cakes in containers or wrapped- on top of the fridge or in cupboards - so they are not there "staring" at me.. Out of sight- out of mind..
someone once told me to imagine food you typically don't eat - covered with slime, dog hair, cat hair...
after a few times - just seeing something like would bring the disgusting image...
also - over the last 7 years - getting really sick on some foods that i knew are not good for me and staying sick for a day or so.. really help develop aversion - or just neutral feelings about those foods.. (i.e. ice cream)
