Raw vegetables? Cant eat?
There really is no difference between RNY and VSG as far as what you are able to eat after surgery. Generally, there is nothing you will never be able to eat, whichever choice you make.
Eat too much of something, especially sugar or simple carbs, and you may have issues. But that's also true for either surgery.
If you are looking for a criteria to help choose a surgery, what you can eat really isn't it.

So sorry to hear about your brother- but glad you're here making a brave decision!!
So regarding vegetables, my surgeon just gives caution. I'm not going to lie, I craved pickle intensely from about day 3 post op. By two weeks out I'd have a very small baby pickle and now enjoy them! Love the pickles! Haven't ventured too much into other raw veggies but am craving cucumbers so I'll probably try a small bit soon!

I eat raw veggies almost every day since I have been about ten months post rny. Only ones that petunia pouch doesn't like are celery, broccoli and cabbage. I stay away from corn, it's iffy. I love raw veggies! Only fruit I have sometimes are berries, small portions. And I enjoy salads often. Lettuce, tomato, cucumber, red onion, mini sweet peppers, no dressing. I put half hard boiled egg in sometimes to switch it Up.

I'm five months out from surgery and frankly rarely have room for many veggies, raw or otherwise. I do enjoy a couple of small spinach leaves with a drop of mashed avocado from time to time. I'm trying to focus on my protein intake as I find that when I get about 70 grams of it in (along with my 64 ounces of water), I lose very fast... about 2 to 3 pounds a week.
I am a weird duck here.. I developed IBS after RNY.. not sure if RBY related or now, but now i have a short lift of raw fruits and veggies I can tolerate without being in pain. That may be due to my GB removed app 6 months post op RNY...
i'll never know. I can tolerate cucumbers and NSA pickles. A slice or 2 of tomatoes.. I can eat some cooked veggies.. but not much... At the same time - after 4-6 oz of dense proteins there is not much space for any veggies. Raw or cooked..
