I did. It meant a lot. I hadn't seen cj since I was maybe in 6th grade. Our dad owned an Italian restaurant and he was the chef. Our dad and he had a fight, he left and didn't see or hear from him again until a few months before surgery we started chatting on instant messenger

had no idea he was getting surgery until I woke up one day to a message saying he was having surgery, he'd talk to me soon and that he loved me.

Didnt hear from him again until I got a call he passed away. I was a sophomore in high school.

Wow!   It is great that you did get to reconnect with him, if even for just a brief time.     It is even better that your last communication was him telling you he loved you.

Did he pass from complications of the surgery?

I'm very sorry for your loss. I'm glad you had an opportunity to speak with him one last time. Are you considering surgery at this time?

The only raw veggie I have personally had trouble with is carrots.  I can do celery, lettuce, pickles, spinach etc.

I ate only non-starchy veggies and berries for 18 months.  Then introduced some fruit starting with an apple a few times a week.  At eight years out I can eat anything, but am still careful about the carbs.  In August, I often have an ear of fresh picked corn in place of an meal.

What everyone else has already said.

You may have issues eating raw vegetables early after surgery.  I think I was advised to avoid them for six months, and to avoid anything with seeds for at least three (they could possibly lodge in the suture line).

Now I can eat any type of vegetable prepared or raw.
