Discouraged..
I was doing so well. Getting my 1200 cals in. Walking 30 min to an hour a day. I was finally losing weight. I stood up off the couch and turned slightly..and with that, my knee gave out. It started hurting and it hasn't stopped. I've iced it and I've stayed off of it but this means I can't work out.
My surgeon wants me to lose as much weight as possible before the surgery and now I can't move. He's already scared me by saying that since I am "round" in the middle, it may become a Sleeve or Open surgery. The thought ****** me off and I wanted to really work so there'd be no complications and now I am stuck. Now I am walking with a cane and I can't do even 1/2 of what I was planning to do.
I just needed to vent. I'm soooo pissed.

I really sympathize with the knee going out. Many times you can treat this at home, but please get to a doctor or emergency room and see if relocation of the knee is needed.
The doctor might need to put the knee back into place. When mine goes out I start with x-rays. Then I use an elastic wrap, ice, rest, and elevation. I use crutches or a walker to keep weight off the knee and take prediscone because I can no longer take NSAIDs.
Look into chair exercises for the upper body while you are healing the knee.
Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
Walking does not do much for weight loss so just focus on resting your knee so it gets better. Are you still only getting in 1200 calories a day? I would go to shakes only with your surgery a week away. Premier Protein, EAS carb control, or Slim Fast High Protein are pretty easy to find in the stores.
My starting weight was similar to yours and I was round in the middle, too. Not anymore. Hang in there!!

Hang in there Melody! You're gonna make it thru. Your surgery is a day after mine and I can feel the anxiety creeping in. Aren't we all round in the middle? I'd just blow off that comment and trust the process. You've been doing great (heck, I've only lost 8 pounds pre-surgery!) Take good care of your knee and we'll both be on the losers bench before we know it!

What you eat is what really matters. You are getting so close, maybe you can cut back on what you are eating even more to compensate. My preop diet had a list of foods I could eat each day, and I barely made it to a 1000 calories per day by sticking to the list. I mostly ate shredded crockpot chicken cooked in salsa, non-starchy veggies, broiled fish with sage and lemon, hard-boiled eggs, and plain 0% Greek yogurt. I was not allowed any grains or cheese. It sucks, but it's such a short amount of time. Plus it helped me start to think of food as merely fuel for my body. You can make it!

Walking isn't going to contribute significantly to your preop weight loss. Or your post op weight loss for that matter.
It truly boils down to what you put into your mouth. Do your best to manage your food intake.
Once you lose weight after surgery, it will be much easier to exercise. Trust me. I couldn't walk 20 feet without eyeballing the nearest bench. Now it's not a problem.
Sorry you're in pain. Rest your knee and watch your calories
