So what would I eat if I could eat anything....

I was laying in bed last night thinking if I could eat absolutely anything in the world right this very second, excluding stupid things I know would make me sick like hot fudge sundaes, what would I eat.  I have divorced food to such a degree I no longer have favorites or places I love to eat, well actually that is a lie, I still adore cinnamon raisin bagels and get them from Einstein bagels, but I limit those to treats on weekends.  So the food I wanted, was craving, the thing I opted for when I was giving myself the choice of anything was....steel cut oatmeal.  Back to my roots I go, I used to eat oatmeal early out and stopped when I gave up most carbs.  But occasionally I buy this good organic one I found that is nice and thick and yummy.  Hmmm the girl who formerly ate a pint of Ben & Jerrys every at and was morbidly obese for 20 long years is jonsing for a bowl of oatmeal.  Now that's funny.  I haven't gotten it yet, too busy with a new succulent garden I am planting but maybe tomorrow.  So what would you pick for your new you meal if you could have pretty much anything?

I would want a fresh-picked ripe tomato from the garden my father planted when I was six.  I think everything tasted better when I was six.

You have fond memories and I remember the gypsy moth invasion and my grandfather spraying our fruit trees with ddt, it was illegal then already but he had a stash.  To this day I can't eat apples, the white outer ddt coating could never be washed and the worms inside can never be removed from my memory.  I remember as a very young girl thinking chemicals were wrong.  I grew up in CT near Pfizer pharmaceuticals, and they destroyed the Thames river.  The 70's were a sad time for pollution.

I don't think anyone ever died from or got cancer from DDT.  I know I used it for several years until my stash was gone.  It was cheap and worked.  The only way to avoid chemicals is grow your own food organically or be very careful to buy organic foods from a reliable source.

It's basically useless to think any land is safe from pollution, Monsanto, our friends that brought us agent orange and roundup are ruining our world.  No land is really safe, even if you used no chemicals you have no idea of the run off, it's very sad.  I am all about organic, non gmo but I am also a realist who understands how chemistry works in our environment.  More than half of our honey is tainted by roundup, yet there it is prevalent as **** every time you set foot in a home center.  People either don't know or don't care that we are poisoning the earth and ruining it for our future generations.

That's why I only eat animals. I let their immune systems filter out all the chemicals from our tainted agriculture. It's the only way to stay healthy.

Most cattle is fed gmo tainted corn, you are eating a science project, between that and the growth hormones and who knows what they won't admit to doing to our land and animals.  It's just sad and scary.  Why does America not force the labeling of gmo's when all of the other industrialized parts of the world are.  Who is paying who off and at what cost?  I try as hard as I can to eat clean and healthy and organic, but I know myself there is cheating in this labeling and even growing things myself is no guarantee of what is already hiding below in my soil.  I flipped out on my husband when I found roundup in his shed.  He had no idea the effects on the environment.  These chemicals are killing us.   The zika virus is just one scary eye opener, sadly children need to suffer for people to see how these pesticides they are using are killing us humans and making super mosquitos.

Actually, GMO crops are studied and tested FAR more than any other agricultural process or product, now AND historically. Not exactly a "hey, let's mess with the public and make them our lab rats" situation.

The notion behind forced GMO labelling is to scare people away from them and imply that they're unsafe-- when there's absolutely no reason to fear their effects on human health. Besides, why force GMO labelling if we don't label other forms of crop modification like seed irradiation?

Bonus: there is ZERO relationship between roundup and Zika/microcephaly.

So you drank the Monsanto koolaid, sorry I am a realist, when I was a kid in high school I recall seeing a movie in chemistry made by Dow chemical, typical propaganda, no one else in the class picked up on it besides me.  My teacher asked the class if they believed everything they saw without question, I question everything.  I believe nothing at face valueis unless it is proven to me.  I lived in Connecticut and saw the effects on the river from Pfizer dumping their chemicals, I personally saw the mutated fish, I know the truth.  You know what agent orange did to our soldiers yet you are supporting the same company and their new and improved defoliant roundup.  Shame on you.  Open your eyes and see the reality around you, we our poisoning ourselves and our planet and we as humans are just getting weaker and more autoimmune diseases as a result.

Pfizer did not just willy nilly dump chemicals in the water and there were no mutated fish or other aquatic animals.

What happened (and they were thoroughly violated for it) was their wastewater discharge units failed on several occasions between 1989 - 1996 and there was an excess of wastewater that flowed into the river.  Like most power plants and other large companies that produce wastewater the EPA allows a certain percentage of the water to be discharged into rivers.  That wastewater has to be treated with things like lime, urea, sulfuric acid, etc. in limited quantities to counter act the chemicals in the wastewater.

Now as for organic, the sad truth is it is a label the USDA has come up with in order to collect monies from farmers.  90% of the farms that offer "organic" products use hormones on their animals, use insecticides and pesticides and the best is some of the farms are starting to use human waste.  Yes human waste.  Do you know why there are so many recalls for lettuce, spinach, and other greens?  It is because the farms that are producing them are spraying their fields with waste from sewer treatment plants.

I have been a hobby farmer for almost 30 years so I know all about organic, Monsanto, and how the USDA regulates things.
