Hello and happy Sunday! Another gloriously warm and toasty day on the east coast in February. I'm looking forward to another nice walk outside!

For the first time since I started posting on weekends, yesterday was a big menu fail. I think I only ate two of the 5 meals I planned, totally screwed up the rest, and went way over on my carbs. I even ate 1/4 of a bagel sandwich while I was out. WTF, Juniper? Get it together.Today I am heading to a museum mid-day, so lunch is up in the air, but I am vowing publicly to eat "on plan" for the rest of my meals.

Fun fact about me: I am a museum nerd. I was a museum studies major in college and my first job was at a major Boston museum (although my career has since taken a very different turn!). The museum I am going to today is totally off beat--The Russian Icon museum. It's a cool collection of religious icons that a local business man collected on his many trips overseas, and then turned into a museum. Are there any fun/off-beat museums you like, where you live?

7 months post-op

B: Fit Frappe Espresso Protein & decaf

S: ham & cheese cubes

L: chicken soup??

S: honey cinnamon almonds

D: pulled chicken and asparagus

No totals because I am not sure about lunch.

Funny, since yesterday was probably the closest I ever stayed to my weekend menu I posted. While shopping yesterday bj's had free samples and they had a sample of bagel with cream cheese. OMG it was so freaking yummy. I wanted to stand there and keep taking samples, thankful the 'fat girl eating up all the samples' perception wouldn't let me do that.

Every day won't be perfect! Interesting about your museum fondness. There is a local museum I want to go to, it's a museum of medical oddities... I forget the name. I think my kids are at the age where they'd think it's cool.

Today I will hit the gym in a few minutes, it's my 'easy day'. Meals are huge guesses right now:

M1: oatmeal 1/3c, 3/4 c.milk, strawberry preserves, boiled egg/white

M2: salmon burger

M3: ham/turkey2oz, cheese stick and 24gcashews

M4: roast beef is what I want, if I make it to a market to pick one up...

I can't do iceberg lettuce at all now, and that's all I liked before surgery.  I do well with romaine lettuce or fresh spinach.  I picked up some kale yesterday, but I don't think I"m going to attempt that raw, I'll probably just cook it up for a veggie side this week.

you might be able to do it again in a few months.  I love salads too.

Another day near 60 here in Illinois! Yesterday we got up to 75 and Lily and I had a marvelous walk outside. Today I am very busy so walking will probably be done late tonight on the treadmill. I will do at least 3 miles and 30 minutes on the bike. I have church from 830 till 11 something and then about noon I have to leave to drive 45 minutes for a lay speakers class that lasts til 6 pm. Then home to work out I guess. Tomorrow I am getting an appointment with the rheumatologist to get something with my meds worked out. I can't get any answers to calls so I will go in personally and be annoying. Prednisone is helping some with the swelling but I have pain in every joint, even my elbows and shoulders. Haven't felt like this in about 30 years back before my RA was being treated. Here's the eats for today B 1/2 c steel cut oats with protein and peanut butter added L 31/2 oz deli turkey and cheese with 1/2 c caprese salad D will eat in car after class 31/2 oz deli turkey and cheese with 1/2 c caprese salad S Greek yogurt. Not very much imagination or variety here but when I feel bad I'm doing good to get myself to eat at all. Have a good day everyone and make some smart choices! See you tomorrow!

Hi weekend menu buddies!  I had a crappy end to a decent food day yesterday.  I did have that hard rootbeer, but only drank 2/3 of it.  BUT then I had some popcorn, and a yogurt, and I somehow got myself into the voracious eating frenzy.  I had to physically stop myself.  I had a good idea the other night and made a dip out of plain greek yogurt and used celery with it.  I think I'm going to keep some stocked in my fridge because the greek yogurt is minimally bad for me, and the celery fills my pouch up fast and will stop me in my tracks when I have had enough.  I'll do better today.

So awesome that you like museums.  Last night our really good friend who works at the College for Creative Studies here in Detroit lives right across the street from the Detroit Institute of Arts and has studio space at the Scarab Club which is really close by.  We were just discussing last night planning a trip down to see his studio, which we haven't been down to see because I couldn't walk the 6 flights of stairs up to his space.  We'll likely hit the Detroit Science Center instead of the DIA because I"m nervous about taking my crazy 2 year old into such a large cavernous space.  I can just imagine him yelling and running through the place.  It gives me anxiety just thinking about it.

Here is my plan for today:

B: 3.5 oz lightly breaded chicken breast, cold from the fridge.  It's still sitting in my pouch an hour later, even though I'm now drinking coffee.  Oh, the power of dense protein!

L: Rare Roast Beef wrapped with cheese in a low carb tortilla with yellow mustard.  I'll be having a pickle with it.

D: pork loin roast in the slow cooker with carrots.

S: I plan on having a Quest Peanut Butter protein shake with half a banana this afternoon.  and I threw a light and fit yogurt in the freezer for an evening snack.

Totals:

Calories 711 Protein 95 Carbs 43 Fat 17

I'll be cooking egg muffins for breakfasts this week, as well as prepping celery and yogurt dip for emergency food snacking.  I have a run to Walmart planned to pick up my hubby's prescriptions today, and I'm going to be doing an art project later with my 2 year old.  I'll come back and post pics of all the cook creations we make.

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone, and thanks Juniper for posting on the weekends!

I'm pretty sure the DIA stayed completely intact. The three counties have a vested interest,  and after a review they realized that liquidating some of the art would have so little effect that it was scrapped. Detroit has a wonderful art community.

Unfortunately we have a history of corrupt leaders.  I'm really hopeful that stage in our history had ended.  Now the focus had turned to Flint Michigan and the water crisis. That really freaks me out.
