Had my surgery Tuesday 2\16\16!

Got home from the hospital yesterday. I am feeling pretty good. I don't have much pain except when trying to get up or down or bend over. It is a lot better than I thought. I had beef and chicken broth and watered down grape juice while in the hospital.
Now that I am home I am on full liquids for 3 weeks. Any suggestions for full liquids is greatly appreciated. I keep trying things with adding whey protein but it doesn't taste very good.
Sounds like you're doing better than average!! Keep up the good work following directions.

I used a stick blender to blend things like split pea soup, cottage cheese. Really anything I could think of that I could blend and thin out to a soupy consistency. I also have an aversion to protein drinks. I can not stand the after taste of artificial sweeteners.

Hmm...cottage cheese, now that's a thought! Thanks! I am not very creative thinking so suggestions really help me.
I choked down protein drinks. I don't like them at all, still way too sweet for me. Unjury has a chicken soup protein powder that I really like. You could check that out because it's savory and it kinda masks the whey protein stink. www.unjury.com I just had some last night as a snack. It kept me from eating the saltines that I was eyeing.

Thanks Deanna! I have that on order because you suggested that to before. Looking forward to receiving it.
Just make sure you follow you plan for food that the dr gave you. I could not have cottage cheese until 2 weeks out. There are all about the same give or take a few items.

Basically anything that is he consistency of tomato soup without any chunks. Even putting chicken noodle soup in a bullet as long as it is no thicker than tomato soup is fine according to the doctor as he does want me to get some carbs.. Getting fluids and protein while healing these first 3 weeks is the main concern.
Full liquid suggestions: sugarfree popsicles jello and pudding, Unjury chicken broth packets, flavored water, and pre-mixed protein drinks. Grape juice would have been too sweet for me. Cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, and chili were my first solids starting at 2 weeks post-op. A way to mask the taste of whey protein powder is to avoid smelling it; using a shaker bottle with a spout helps tolerate the taste without full-on whiffs. Also, I think Unjury brand 100% whey protein isolate powder has the least smell and taste. Unjury chocolate flavor mixed with milk tastes like plain 'ol chocolate milk to me and I still use it today. Wearing an abdominal binder around my waist helped ease movement discomfort the few three weeks. Happy Long Naps.

Thank you Selhard. They gave me a binder and you are right, it does help. I wish I could eat those SF pops! Would be nice to use the ready-made shakes too but I can't use any sugar substitutes so they are no go. I have been just buying different soups and putting them in the bullet with plain protein powder. Just two more weeks of that than I can tackle the pureed for 3 weeks. Your suggestion of cottage cheese and chili will be on that list. Just wish I could have the popsicles to bite into! Lol!
