Okay, product review:

I am usually very skeptical of frozen prepackaged meals,  but I saw the weigh****chers smart ones on sale and looked at the stats.  The Santa Fe Chicken is 160 calories, 19g protein and 13 carbs.  It is also pretty darn delicious and quite satisfying.  I won't be eating them all the time,  since the sodium is redonkulous, but I think I'll keep a couple in the freezer for emergencies.

Before surgery I used to have a lean cuisine or WW frozen meal for lunch.  I'm wary of them now since most of them include a pasta or rice component and I haven't had a bite of pasta or rice in the 21 months since my surgery.  Does the one you had include pasta/rice or is it a veggie side?

This one has the chicken, black beans, zucchini and sauce.  I won't eat a pasta or rice one, they are all too high in carbs for me.  There are like 3 flavors that have no pasta/rice that I saw all in a reasonable calorie to protein ratio.

I was looking at the Atkins meals, but they are all too big.  I could buy them because the ratio would be good, but I wouldn't save half a frozen meal as leftovers, so it would be wasteful.

I buy the Atkins ones, cook them and repackage them into 2 meals and throw them in the freezer.

Hey yall

I missed yall!! Still in gorgeous california - they are calling for rain today and everyone here is SUPER excited since it is overdue.

I've done fairly well on food- packed power crunch and quest bars but the eating in and dining out is a bit hard. Got a crab leg appitizer last night at the restaurant. It was amazing and they served on dry ice so it was smoking. Very cool.

I did my c25k in the gym last night- never jogged on a treadmill before. I actually thought it was harder than outdoors because it controls your speed versus you doing it. And I didn't fall on my face so that was positive. Will go back for more punishment tonight also since I'm flying tomm morning. Need to also have a chance to ride the trolley streetcars before I leave also.

B: 1/2 quest

S: 1/2 power crunch

Decaf coffee

L: grilled salmon and green beans from thai place

S:?

D: not sure

S: not sure

Exercise: getting my steps in , c25k

Looking forward to weighing when I get home also. Dreading the flight though...

I have voiced my opinion on the DREADmill many times here, jogging/walking (whatever) outside it just so much nice than on the treadmill!!  I mean its a nice piece of equipment to have for back up, but NOT something I would choose to use regularly if I could be outside instead

I've been reading these pays on what's on the menu. I will be having my surgery next month. I'm just wondering when I'm ame to eat normal foods, will I only be able to eat food by the ounces or can I eat two complete eggs and a slice of slice of bacon (for example) all in one meal?

BTW. ...I've been trying to add my picture,  but it's not working. Can someone help me with this please.

Thanks for your advice and help.

Jen

Hi Jen.  At some point you should be able to eat like that. Though,  I'd actually do 1 egg worth 2 slices of bacon.  I really like bacon.

There is an icon at the top right of your screen that looks like a mountain range with the sun above it. Use that to upload your pictures.  Then go into your profile by clicking on your username at the top.  You should be able to add your avatar pic from that screen.

Hi Jen. What centre are you out of? You should have been given a step by step post op meal plans/what to eat.  I had surgery out of Toronto Western Hospital in Toronto.  They give out excellent pre and post op menu plans.

2 eggs and one slice of bacon won't be for a long time post op.  For me at 2+ years out I can only eat two eggs and two small sausages for breakfast. I find eggs are very filling.

I think I have the TWH post op inserts in a pdf, PM me and give me your email and I can send it to you, hope that helps.

Come to this forum often and once you have surgery please post on the What's on the Menu Today thread, REALLY helped me a lot post op.

Good luck!
