Thanks everyone for the wonderful encouragement!  I am also excited to say that I finished my 1/2 marathon in 3 hours and 27 minutes.  I felt so excited and in amazement that I actually accomplished a goal that I never thought I would ever be able to do... My husband ran the race as well and was waiting for me when I ran through the finish line!!  Thanks everyone for all your wonderful encouraging words and support that I have and read on this site!! :)

That is a good one to do first.  It is not timed and it is a lot of fun.

They ARE addicting!  I am working on my second.  What is great about a half is it is long enough to require training/endurance and the distance is far enough that casual runners are put-off by it. The distance of a half marathon isnt so long that it breaks down's one body.  I read somewhere that super serious/pro's run only two half's a year, whereas super-serious pro-marathoners only do ONE a year. That marathon breaks on down so much!

Great job and that medal is HUGE!  Put it up somewhere where you can see it every day to keep you on track. Since I have a tendency to stress eat, mine is by my computer at work.  It anchors me into correct behaviors!

You have really done well!

When out for an afternoon walk one day, my DH and I discovered he can walk backward faster than I can run forward....so curious...how long did yours have to wait for you at the finish line?  On second thought, don't answer that because it's way more important just to know you DID IT, FINISHED, and SURVIVED.  Happy for you.

He has been running a year longer than me and fishes about 24 minutes earlier.  He didn't have to wait too long
