I hit a wall today, I am 17 days post opp. And have had some minor compilations.  I only got a few sips of one protein and a few slips of a clear one. I tried eggs on day 14, I was sick, they got stuck and three hours, could not get them to go. I was so much pain, I did not drink anything, took my time, and chewed. I call the dr, they to stay on liquids for one more week. I just think of protein shakes I want to vomit, had no problems prior today. I was able to keep soup down for dinner. I had gas, and pain in the stomach all day. The dr knows me by name already, 2 Er visits, one follow up and one phone call. My mom keeps telling the I got self in a mess and not sure why I did this.  Just needing some advice.

Eggs are a food that commonly causes problems for people early out. Don't try eating them again for a while. But also pay attention to what time of day these problems arise. It took me a long time to figure out that I was only having problems in the morning. Eating things too early in the morning still makes me want to vomit, and I am not the only one who feels this way. Hang in there. It takes some time to adjust and figure things out. But it is worth it.

For many of us the "dehydration" from not drinking fluids during the night can make our pouches a little finicky in the morning.  I can't eat anything until I have had several cups of warm liquid (coffee or tea).

Eggs- my Doc only lets us have poached or soft boiled in the beginning..anything dry or rubbery will get stuck. As Rocky said keep the fluids up. Even still, I rarely eat solid food in the AM. Tea, water, protein drinks... food for lunch. In the beginning my mantra was - Small bites, chew well, make sure it is moist. Add a little broth, sauce or gravy if needed.

The protein drinks get old and you have to switch flavors up. What got me through the "I can't swallow another protein drink" were Click and Fit Frappe Mocha flavors (coffee)...

Agree on the egg comments. I tried egg drop soup early out and it did not do well. I can have it now but sometimes my pouch doesn't like it. In t he beginning I would soft scramble the egg with ricotta cheese so I could get it down better.

I try to do a protein shake or 1/2 a scoop in the morning at least.  then I have a warm beverage after waiting my 30 minutes after the shake.

Warm decaf tea is great also.

You probably need to work on getting the liquids down and getting enough protein.

Have you tried isopure if you hate the protein shakes?

Quest multipurpose unflavored protein you could add to the soup to get your protein in.

also- not sure what the mom dynamic is but you don't need to allow negative talk in your life to where you question your decisions. You obviously had the surgery for a reason. you might also want to use the search function and you might find more info.

I have tried the isopure. For three day I just have not felt well. I took two doses of milk of magnesia, and took about 10 hours to work and now I can't stop going.  I can't look at any food/ protein , I just want to gag.  I took the anti- nausea meds the dr gave me.  My gut and stomach are hurting, it not like a 10 but I would a 4. I was doing really well  everything and the last three days I don't want to leave the bed. I am just miserable. Please help if you can.

If you are not getting at least 64 ounces of liquid you will end up back in the ER. Have you tried soups with added protein? I did cream of chicken with added plain protein in it.

I would get the isopure, if you don't like the taste, water it down and add sugar free crystal light or something like that.

At least work on getting all your fluids in and getting the protein.

what did the ER say when you went in?
