I was a actually a revision patient--band to bypass, so my journey was a little different. I started 6 years ago, not 6 months. I lost a lot and kept it off but the band failed and I had to have it removed. I went into bypass surgery with a BMI of 33, so...high, but still a "lightweight" in wls terms.

  • High Weight before LapBand: 200 (2008)

  • Lowest post-op weight: 110 (2016)
  • Maintenance Weight: 120 (2017-2019)
  • Battling Regain Weight: 135 (current)

Hey me too!   I am a revision patient as well.  I had the band in 2008 lost 85 lbs but gained it all back so I basically started my RNY journey where I was when I started the band journey.

I am soooo much happier with this RNY and absolutely NOOOO heartburn/reflux anymore!!

Yeah I feel soooo much better than I did. I kept a majority of my lost weight off, but it wasn't a healthy way to live. I'm eating more now but losing, because it's the right food, not just the food that will stay down! Congrats on your revision!

JuniperBerry - what happened or didn't happen with the band? One of my friends had the band and didn't do to well w/weight loss.

My weight loss was ok with the band (much slower) but steady. I was happy until I just started developing awful GERD and a literal inability to swallow. I vomited at least a portion of everything I ate by the end. It was embarrassing and uncomfortable and really hard to be healthy. I wouldn't wish the band on my worst enemy... I hope your friend has a better time!

As a knitter this seems ridiculous to me - but I NEVER know what the past tense should be either! I have that exact conversation in my head every time and then randomly pick one or the other without know what's right. Meanwhile, I've never looked it up, so apparently I'm not that bothered by it.

You know me, I love to photo ***** - so here's a little collage from my weekend in DC with Em and Nikke. You already saw the one of the three of us - but the other two were fun moments as well. On Saturday morning Em and I did a SolidCore class, which was torture, but amazing. Sometimes I am flabbergasted by what my body can do now. The other pic is from our Friday afternoon pedis (how decadent, right?!). PS. After I totally messed up my big toe I'm sure the salon was rethinking it's policy to give out as many glasses of champagne as you want...

*Please note, I'm purposefully letting my gray hair grow in, so it isn't just that I'm ignoring my roots.

My weekend will be busy - but not all that exciting. well, I am excited for Valentine's Day for once, since I don't think I've EVER been with someone on Valentine's Day that I actually WANTED to celebrate with - so that's fun. We'll be celebrating early bird style, as the fella, bless his heart (lol), didn't think to make reservations until this week so we're going out to a FIVE PM dinner...oy. It took all my power not to be like "Seriously? Are we 900 years old?!"

Time since surgery: 23 months

B: coffee with cream, overnight oats

S: Chobani Flip

L: pot roast and a string cheese

S: PowerCrunch and maybe another coffee as a Friday "treat"

D: Another omelet, I'm obsessed

S: popcorn and Chobani tube

TOTALS: Calories 1218, Protein 105, Carbs 95, Fat 53

V/W: started

E: rest day but trying to get those steps in!

As for the Conversation Hearts....I can take them or leave them. I like the softer ones over the hard ones though, for sure!

Love the pictures!  And I believe I need to find a similar salon in my area.  How funny would that be if I just started calling around like "do you guys give out champagne with a pedi?"  HA!
