Why did you go outside of the US?  Never never trust leaving the US.

this is a judge mental and irresponsible post. Many hundreds of thousands of ppl go out of the country every year for surgeries. Haven't you ever heard of medical tourism?

i have had 3 surgeries and plastic surgery and dental implants in MX and have no problem with any of them.

it is unfortunate the OP had problems but those problems could have happened in the U.S. Just as easily.

Lynne,

I am so sorry you are going thru this!  Maybe between all of us, we can give you some things that will work for you to begin to heal.

How big is your pouch? What kind of capacity do you have?

You are probably still ridding your body of all the poisons,(dying bacteria leave residue) and antibiotics they had to give you for your medical emergency. The bad taste thing, should pass soon. Please get as much liquid as possible into your body to flush out those toxins.

At some point, you will think of something that "would taste good"..this will be a clue that your body is beginning to return to an acceptance phase. Sometimes it is just a flavor... something chocolate,or salty... just be careful and choose/use those things wisely.

Since you do not tolerate most high protein standard food, I would suggest you take a carb and convert it to a high protein...kinda trick the body into accepting protein.

one recipe that works for me, it to take a protein powder and and two eggs... , add it to make a pancake mix...I use a cup of  self rising flour, 2 tbspoons of splenda,  eggs and two servings of protein mix, a tablespoon of coconut oil( use 1/3 to coat the skillet, put rest in mix) .   I vary the kind of protein  powder and when I use vanilla  flavored one...I will use cinnamon or nutmeg...etc in to change flavor.

This will make several pancakes, take the carbs and the protein  add them up and divide by number of pancakes, to give you your calorie count. and protein count.

I eat these with no syrup, but you could use some fruit conserve or no sugar fruit spread to give it a special flavor..  If you cook all at one time, they can be frozen for several weeks, just mark with your protein and carb serving...and space them out.

You can  not "convert a carb to a high protein" anything.  Adding protein powder to a carb does not eliminate the carb part.  Telling someone who is only 8 weeks out to make pancakes with white flour and top them with fruit conserve is irresponsible. That might work for someone at goal, but this advice will slow or stop weight loss in a new post- op patient.

If the OP is looking for great recipes fro WLS (including real protein pancakes) go to theworldaccordingtoeggface website.

Seriously? This is sheer lunacy.

At 8 weeks, most of us had plenty of food intolerances. The OP has had a horrendous time with complications and recovery. It's amazing she can eat anything at all. And trying to eat this carb laden crapfest could put her right back in the hospital.

You can't "trick" your body. Adding protein powder under a pile of carbs and calories is going to do her no favors. She needs more time to recover and heal. There are a million ways to get protein in.

Julie,

Sorry for the delay in answering your brief comment, I have had HAP from Hubbys hospitalization...so am just getting strength back.

...any time the body has an infection and it is killed, mitigated by antibiotic therapy or any other therapy, the body has to dispose of the by products (of the kill off of bacteria and the toxins they produce to self protect). . There are toxins in the body as the infection is killed and it is excreted thru the kidneys primarily, but also thru fecal matter and also thru sweat..The liver also plays a part...acting like toxins is a nasty word is not being real. I know it IS MIS- used, but I was referring to the life threatening infection she had had and her body's recovery....  I know that true conversion from carb to protein is not technically possible. but for people who tolerate nothing...  an ounce-1 1/2 oz of a high protein pancake mix.. is a place to start. ..for those who throw everything up.

This is the worst, most inaccurate advice I've read here on OH.

Are you being seen by anyone for follow up care? Primary care or other Bariatric clinic? My first advice is get established with a clinic that knows what they're doing so you have someone to call and follow up with. Second thing is to find a registered dietitian that woo with Bariatric surgery patients help you through this. Did you have any preop dietary counseling? If there isn't an experience RD near you, you can try looking online- many clinics are using the telehealth model and utilize Skype or the like to meet with patients.

Whatever you do, do not take Sweetpotato's "advice". Eating white flour and pancakes  are not a good idea for anyone 8 weeks out. Hell, I'm 2.5 years out and wouldn't do that.

I have no advice for you other than that except to just continue with what you can handle and try to see a dietician that specializes in bariatric patients. If you can tolerate Greek yogurt, Dannon Light and Fit Greek has 12 g of protein and their triple zero has 15 g. per a 5.3 oz serving.

I'm so sorry you've had the problems you've had. I really hope things get better for you.
