Water trouble
3 weeks post op and struggling to drink enough water. Room temp or cooler literally hurts (cramps?) my pouch- even a small sip. I've been trying but not getting enough. In bed last night at 700 due to severe headache and body aches. Warm liquids are better so I've been drinking caffeine free herbal teas- is that a problem? Anyone have any other ideas of what could help with hydration besides warm tap water?

I was sent back at 1 month for I.V. fluids. Maybe a warm heating pad on your stomach for a few minutes might help the reaction. My Pancreas is what causes me great discomfort at cold temp fluid. This is a serious problem moving forward if not settled. Hope you figure it out.
I don't ever drink jus****er, my pouch can't handle it. And I don't like cold drinks anymore either, so I drink my coffee in the morning and then herbal teas in the afternoon. Sometimes I'll drink flavored water from a bottle, but it has to be room temperature, and I'm really getting away from that now too and just drink mostly tea.
I don't think that the tea should be an issue, as long as it's caffeine free at this point. You might want to start brewing it by the pot. lol
how about room temp gatorade sugar free?
also walmart has a sugar free apple cider. It is about 15 calories but sugar free. It is made by alpine. I really like it.
I've lately had the same issue and been doing hot decaf teas and decaf coffee.
also there are water enhancers that you might like that are sugar free.
I had the same issue and was barely getting 16 oz a day. Make sure you are counting all fluids though not jus****er. Any soups, protein shakes etc. You may feel like you aren't getting enough fluids but once you start tracking everything you take in your number may be higher than you think. Also, I drank hot tea for a while after surgery. Cold hurt so bad so I did what I could and it got me over the hump. I can now get all my fluids in but still have some cold sensitivity. Room temp is so much better. Take it in a little at a time. Sip sip sip. Every sip counts.hang in there. It will get easier.

"I may not be there yet, but, I'm closer today than I was yesterday."
The headache and body aches could be dehydration setting in.
Try everything. Tea or coffee is fine. Sugar feee popsicles save a lot of people. Sugar free jello helps some, but if I recall, you don't do jello?
Try different flavors of crystal light. Mio. Almond milk. Powerade Zero was great for me, as there were too many calories in the low cal gatorade.
Do whatever you need to for now. It will be better soon.

Apparently in some people there is a difference in surface tension between the water they are drinking and the fluid in their stomach and intestine. The two don't go together well, along the idea of oil and vinegar. Adding Mio or Crystal Light acts as a surfactant, lowering the surface tension, and the discomfort from drinking goes away. So there actually is a scientific explanation why some have a harder time drinking than others.
