Eating too much at one time?
Hi - I can eat two L & F yogurts with 1/2 protein bar for one meal. I am one year from RNY and ten pounds to go to doctors goal. Mine is ten pounds more. I get sick of eating every two hours and never feel full. But, in turn feeling full is very scary. My total calories are at about 850-1000 and I am still losing weight but very slow like 2 pounds per month. I'm 66 so not sure if that is part of the quotient. Drinking all the fluid and taking the vitamins and calciums. Thanks for the opinions.
2 yogurts and half a protein bar at one meal is a lot. You'd lose a little faster if you cut back.
Yogurt will never make you feel satisfied. Try dense protein. You'll eat less, and can go longer between meals without cravings.

I know the feeling all too well. Lazy and addicted got me to super morbid obesity. I'd take this as an opportunity to switch things up.

Stop chasing the "full feeling". It no longer exists. Eat the portion you measure out and then stop eating. Many of us have used the full sensation as a crutch. It feels like comfort to us. We need to change everything about the way we relate to food. Full does not equal comfort and hunger is not an emergency. Nothing bad will happen if you stop eating before you feel full and nothing bad will happen if you allow yourself to feel hunger between scheduled meal times.
At a year out, you should be eating dense protein ( chicken, steak, etc) and veggies (if you have room). Dense protein will stay with you longer and you won't feel like eating more food. Yogurt is a slider food and we can eat a lot of it. Protein bars are not a meal. They should be used only in situations when no food is available (like when you are out doing errands and have no other food source around).
Eating real food will help you feel more satisfied.
Very good advice and I will get off the slider foods. I have been falling down around this because the dense foods are more painful and "Clunky." I will also see my counselor when I get home. I've been out of town and developed some old eating behaviors. Likely there is more nutrition in the clunky food also. I will put the protein bars in the car for emergencies.
You seem very aware of things. That's a great sign. I think you'll continue to do very well.

Hi CathyWray,
I normally eat dense protein and salads. Well, yesterday due to a ton of dental work I was advised to give my jaw a break and eat soft foods. So lunch was yogurt (TWICE!!!) with scrambled eggs and dinner was creamed corn and lobster ravoli.
I have now awakened at 4.30 am HUNGRY. And I KNOW I ate more than my approved cup of food (total...that is veg + protein).' Those slider foods dont hang around.
As far as clunky foods. I eat steak and chicken no problem. I have found that my NUTs direction of REALLY small slivers of meat chewed to apple sauce consistency will get you full and keep you full. And it really DOES taek forever to chew that meat down, but I have no indigestion whatsoever. The only thing that really irritates my pouch is excess sugar (gone is cake, frosting, glazed donuts and etc cuz I will puke) and copious amounts of acidic coffee.
Hope this helps.
Chew! Chew! Chew!

Three pounds below Goal!!! Yay !
You are so correct on the full feeling. Some guy who turned the boat around on "My 600 lb life" said it best " I dont eat to feel full anymore, I eat just enough so I will be hungry again in a few hours". Or soemthing like that.
What I have found is after RNY...that full feeling was gone and replace by a constriction feeling. But constriction was scary because it felt like something was squeezing/constricting my heart.
I actually fear overfilling, not for the puke/stretch your pouch aspects, but due to the feeling I might be having a heart attack!
