Dont do it
Wow didnt realize how cruel people are. My weight gain started with having 12lbs babys. I wasnt unhealthy, but wanted the surgery to live longer, and I did all the steps before surgery, it took a year before my dr would consider it, I had to lose weight, learn to chew, and get an exercise program. Dont judge me, you dont know me. this was a warning for people who didnt know what could happen and has happened to many.
I'm sorry that I came across as cruel, but I get a bit upset when I see you blaming your alcohol problem on surgery. `and I realize that you had large babies, but that is NOT why you gained and stayed morbidly obese. `that happened because you ate more calories than you burned off. you seem to be completely in denial and I sincerely hope that you get the help that you need. I have many alcoholics and drug addicts in my immediate family and i have seen enough of the bull**** to see through your finger pointing. Open your eyes.
if you want to get better, you should seek counseling and find an AA meeting ASAP.
So, your point is people gain weight after having children, should they not do that either?
You're correct, this type of thing has happened to many, I know a friend who has excruciating ulcers, had she listened to the doctor and not smoked and drank (socially) this probably would never have happened. She does not blame the surgery, she blames herself. As you should, what idiot who doesn't drink suddenly decides to after having the surgery?
Please, please go on Dr. Phil, I don'****ch him, but I would surely watch that one.!
Trans addiction can occur in people who have had WLS. This is one of the reasons why OH is so resourceful. There are many people that are members of OH that have experienced trans addiction and were able to get help for it. Not all surgeons warn you of the possibility of trans addiction. Mine did not. I learned about it from being in the bariatric community, by being active and participating in support groups and on this website and unfortunately had friends and co-workers experience it.
It is real, but just like a person who gives up smoking or drugs, they can trans addict to over eating or gambling. We don't live in a perfect world. We will trans addict if you don't recognize the issues and seek help. It is the only thing that will work.

I think I am now trans addicted to spending lots of time on OH! ;-)
Rather than make claims that are not backed up by science, you should probably stop being an alarmist and simply and calmly tell people that this is YOUR experience. There are millions of people around the world who need WLS as a tool to lose weight and regain their health and lives. I was one of those people. I do not have alcoholism, panic attacks, or worse eyesight. Your experience is simply that - YOURS. It's a shame you are choosing to alarm people who will greatly benefit from this wonderful tool that will help them lose weight.
