Measure or Weigh
Some centers have stupid rules which is why I do my own research about things I don't agree with and make my own decisions.

The only reason to use measuring cups (volume) is to make sure you aren't putting too much food into your new stomach. Volume tells you very, very little about anything else.
If you want to track calories, carbs, protein, etc, measuring volume is a very rough estimate, and you'll need to weigh on an accurate kitchen scale. Mine is accurate to .05 ounces.
I never used measuring cups. I have weighed and kept track of calories every day since surgery.
This is an instance where you can confidently ignore those instructions and go back to weighing.

I strongly disagree with this advice for a new post-op. Their primary concern should be not to exceed the capacity of their pouch so they must measure the volume of their food with measuring cups. If they also want to track the nutrition information of that food then can weigh the food after measuring it.
I should have been more clear, but this is what I meant by measuring to not exceed stomach size. But, if you are weighing a proper portion of dense protein, 2-3 ounces, it will also be undersized by volume. 2-3 ounces of crappy food can be a much larger volume, but mostly it's what people shouldn't be eating anyway.

I'm not sure - early on - getting to understand the volume of your new pouch is important and learning to gauge when you are fully is important. Measuring - by volume or weight - maybe the important piece, long term.

I weigh everything except liquids. I'm 10 weeks out. Not sure what the best way to measure lettus is though.
For lettuce I use volume. I see how much I can stuff in the disposal before I hit the switch. Grinding that crap is fun.

Lettuce??? I'm >1 year out, at my dream goal weight, and I hardly ever have room for lettuce. I was a salad eater before, but I haven;t bought any since WLS. I have a leaf when I am out from time to time.
