4 years out and just started Paxil ð?¤"

I had issues with paxil and weight gain prior to surgery so I asked my doc to switch me to something else when I found out I was having the RNY. Mine also "pooped out" on me so I wasn't getting anxiety/depression relief anymore. My surgeon did say that because my depression was long term I would probably be on antidepressants for life even with the weight loss. If you are really concerned you should ask your doc to try something else. There are literally dozens if not hundreds of other SSRIs to try.

I have been on paxil for 14 yrs. I had some slight weight gain at first but then it stopped. Work through it and once your body is used to taking it, the pounds will come off again. My surgeon is going to keep me on it after surgery also. Good luck, stay strong.

I took Paxil about 25 yrs ago and I gained 60 lbs in 60 days. I never was able to lose all of it and every diet attempt after that I regained whatever I dieted off until my all time high of 278 lbs. 

Granted I already had had problems moderating intake of sugary foods but prior to that it had been more about rebellion and having control. I've always felt  turned some kind of self control switch "off" and I became a full fledged addict   

On the other hand some people lose their appetite on Paxil. Everyone is different.  If you feel that it is having a negative effect on you, talk to your prescriber. There are so many options available these days!
