Any experience with taking Paxil? I'm 4 years out from surgery so the honeymoon is over ?
I have been on it a week and have followed my routine to a T... Worked out the same and boom
I'm up 5 pounds? Paxil is known to slow metabolism
could be happening this soon?
I work to hard to have weight gain lol
should I try something else
I have anxiety attacks that come out of the blue...
I was on Paxil once - several years before I had surgery. I gained about 25 lbs on it - so watch it! Granted, although the drug increases your appetite and/or messes with your metabolism, you control what and how much you eat, so you should be able to work around this, but I know that drug is a beast!!

I have struggled on and off for years
and seem to have good control,l but
I'm now exhausted from them. I need to do something!
I love working out, but sometimes they come on as I work out.
even during yoga. I some times wonder if its hormones or reactive low blood sugar.
Sigh .... Will get there ?
Heidi,
I had a panic attack yesterday at the movies and I realized it was because I had not eaten in 5 hours. So I'm wondering about your blood sugar. I've never taken Paxil but from what others have said perhaps you need to try something else. Keep working out though because it really helps.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Heidi, have you had your thyroid levels tested? I never had any type of anxiety issues. Then all of a sudden, in 2009, I started getting them out of the blue. It was quite debilitating. Turned out, it was thyroid/hormone related. SOOOOO much better now. Docs kept trying to push anti anxiety meds. I refused to take them. Theu kept telling me i had "just developed anxiety disorder". But i knew my body and knew something was "off" I insisted they find the root of my problem and where it was stemming from. Sure enough, I was right.

Supposedly my levels are good but I've heard that some docs don't look at a certain level or draw a certain level
my hormones could be out of wack as well... It's so nerving. I've had heart test monitors stress echo you name it. It's scary at times..
Just want them to be gone ð??"
Thank you for all the feedback
Ha! Yeah I was told THREE times that everything was fine with my labs. My PCP finally sent me to a specialist after i went biserk in her office and demanded she do more to help me. My levels were so off that the endocrinologist just walked over to me and gave me a hug when I told him how long I had been experiencing my symptoms. He actually told me he was shocked I wasn't on anti anxiety meds. I told him I didn't want to be treated until I was certain what I would be treated for. So fortunate I got him. He's absolutely fabulous. The man is all heart!
If you anxiety attacks are from low blood sugar - taking paxil may be dangerous.
Why not trying to test your BS to make sure.
I have severe RH and if I get it ...it feels like a horrible anxiety attack.. But I know what is causing it. Best is to avoid low blood sugar.
