It is very common to fear the unknown and worry about the 'what ifs"  When it came to me deciding to have surgery or choosing to continue my unhealthy life, I realized that I needed to have surgery or I wouldn't be around much longer. Was I afraid of dying, yes,  But, I think I was even more afraid of the other alternative of not taking this opportunity and continuing in my present state.    I think that everyone that is on this site has experienced the same fears, so it is normal.

As for the other things you listed, yes, you can experience malnutrition.  However, that comes from not taking your vitamins and eating foods that are not nutrient friendly (aka carbs, sugar, etc)    If you diligently focus on your goals after having surgery which are eating foods that are more healthy options, staying away from carbs and sugar to ensure you do not dump, exercise to maximize your weight loss and take your vitamins DAILY, you will be fine.   :)

I've never once regretted my decision!
