Yep - that's all excellent advice, and I'm going to heed every word.  This is an experiment only at this stage, and I'm going to be ever-vigilant.  Thank you, Deanna.

Make sure you update how you do.  I'm afraid I'll try and struggle,  but I don't feel like I've got a handle on the head hunger yet.  Maybe by the time I get to goal I'll be a pro. I tell my therapist all the time that it's one thing to be aware of your issues,  and know your triggers,  but another thing all together to stop the behavior.  Stay strong.

What concerns me is the inclusion of a useless simple carb item in each snack, which fits with my experience of prepackaged snacks. I have found that prepackaged snacks always include some simple carb item as filler to make the product cheaper to produce, so I avoid them. I find it more effective to buy packages of one thing only and avoid any type of mix for this reason. Then I create my own mixes in snack size Ziploc bags using my kitchen scale. Items that I like to add to my mixes include: cashews, almonds, chickpeas, soy nuts, pistachios, Mr. Cheese O's, and chicken jerky. There are so many more that you can add, but it is much safer when you retain control over exactly what goes in the mix.

This is a great idea!

I do like to log each and every morsel into MyFitnessPal every day, though... and I can see it would be difficult to know the exact number of calories, proteins, carbs etc when making up your own snack bags from several different items.  That's kinda why I like these snacks... the nutrition is clearly stated on every little packet.  But... you're right, there would be no fillers, or things I don't need if I packed my own..

Very good point, Maria... thanks for your input.

Perhaps try a few things from there - see what you like and don't like and then cancel and adapt a slightly less carby/processed version for yourself. I'm always up for getting new ideas and trying new things though.

I could not have those simple carb items in the house. I would be too tempted. I would probably shove all the wrong items in my pie hole.

Thats just me though:):)

At least to me, these types of snacks seem kind of 'slippery slope', especially with them arriving on a regular basis. I think I might over use them.  But that's me - you know yourself best.

That's kinda me, too Spence... that's why I'm scared.  But excited, too.  I've done really well so far handling snacks... since I know I have to log them into MyFitnessPal... if there is no room calorie, protein or carb-wise for them, they'll just pile up on the counter.  So, although I don't want to scarf them all down and gain, I also don't want to spend the money and have them sit on the counter because I can't allow the calories.

Yep... this is the slippery slope I'm living on right now.  Maintenance is not as easy as I thought it was going to be.    But I guess it's a learning process.  Wish me luck!

Looking for feedback with a new product I just signed up for called Graze.com or www.graze.com.

I waited until I reached my goal to sign up, so I'm no longer looking to lose more weight.  And I'm struggling with adding the right proportion of healthy calories, but am so scared about gaining back.  At the same time, if I don't add something to my diet I'll keep losing, and I'm already about 13 pounds past the original goal my doc and I set at time of surgery, and 7 more pounds past the goal weight my doc said not to go below.  (He said no lower than 155 and today I am 148.)

So, I signed up for Graze.com.  It's a program that delivers healthy snacks to your door each week.  They are low calorie, portion controlled, and many options are high protein.  However - they are "snacks", and by the very definition of a snack, I'm nervous.

In this program there are 104 small snacks to choose from.  Some are more sugary (I eliminated those from my choices), some are savory, most are made with nuts and dried fruits and healthy ingredients.  They put together a box of 8 different treats that they choose from your list of favorites and they come to your door every Monday (my first box comes January 25th) for $11.99/week.  You never know exactly which ones will come in your box (other than they will all be from items I okayed first), and I can cancel at any time.

The calorie range that I chose from is from 70-230 per snack.  The foods are unique and exciting and will be a nice addition to my usual Protein drink, Yogurt, meat/cheese menu.

Tell me what you think.  Be honest.  Is this too dangerous?  Are there better ways to add more calories to my day?  (I'm trying to go from 550 calories to around 900 at this point - hoping to neither lose more nor gain any back.)

I,personally, could never do this. The dried fruit, very high in sugar and the sesame thins and the crostini would be a huge trigger for me. The more I eat the more I want to eat of those things.

I don't think you will have to worry about continuing to lose weight with them. Unless you are not a food addict,or sensitive to carbs,I think you will be gaining I very short order.

Yep... I'm a food addict.  This won't be easy - but I've got to learn some way to maintain, and at least these things are portion controlled (my biggest problem is portion sizes when left to my own devices!), and contain some healthy ingredients.  I'm willing to try, but also going to watch it carefully.  Everything else in my daily diet will remain the same as it is now.  Just with one added snack (hope I can stop, though).
