Can someone remind me how many grams of protein we should be consuming? I am having brittle hair and breakage. Also, I remember back then, someone had a spreadsheet as to what the recommended blood levels be for vitamins and nutrients...anyone happen to have that available?

I asked this question in the WHAT ARE YOU EATING TODAY thread and the replies were 60-80 Grams of protein per day.

My plan is minimum of 60, but as many as I can get in. If I hit 100g while keeping my calories under 800 I'd call that a win. I'm 5.5 months postop and still in the losing phase.

I'm assuming being in maintenance includes raising the calorie intake,  so would raise the protein required.  I'd shoot for minimum 80.

My surgeon says a minimum of 80 for maintenance.

You need to have lab work done to see what your current protein level is.  Then base your daily amounts on your individual results.

Brittle hair is often caused by a thyroid problem.  It can also be from chemicals applied to the hair.  Other deficiencies can cause it.

Schedule a complete lab work and physical check up.  The lab reports and your doctor will tell you if you are in range for vitamins and nutrients.

Like White Dove said, There are a number of vitamin deficiencies that can cause brittle hair and nails.  Protein goals are indicated by your own lab results.  I have to get at least 100 grams to keep my protein numbers up.  Others may only need 60 grams.  Some may need 120 grams.  You need to have a full set of labs run to know where you need to tweek your vitamin/protein supplements.
