Nerves/Ready to get it over with...... Over prepping
About a week ro go before surgery and I go back and fourth between being nervous and just being ready for it to be over. Ive checked my list made sure I had all my supplies, wrote myself a positive note. But still thinking of things maybe I should do to prep... Ever been there?
Are you asking for things to do? I think you might be so here's a few things over-thinkers may do--ok, what I did: 1. pre-funeral arrangement was made making sure family couldn't over-rule my choice to donate my body to the University of Minnesota for obesity research and to have no funeral service. My wishes still have not changed, remain on file, and are of comfort. 2. washed the stomach area the night before surgery with a special soap provided by the surgical team that is suppose to lessen staph infection possibilities 3. prepared and had ready to leave on discharge day notes-of-thanks and appreciation for the hospital staff. Over-prepping helped me feel ready to take the giant leap of faith WLS requires and also be prepared for both the good and the bad. There was and is WAY MORE GOOD than bad--you'll see.
Although you may not want to....make sure you take a bunch of BEFORE PICS...I just turned 6mths and I take the same series of pics every month on my anniversary date in the same clothes, same location. All I can say is WOW!!! So glad I have them !!!

I totally agree with this, and I wish I would've done this. Take pictures standing, sitting, front, side, back, etc. When you make those side-by-side before and after photos, you'll be glad you did.

150 lost and maintaining!
To be honest I did not start freaking out until I was admitted to the hospital for surgery. I know for most this might be your first surgery experience, I have had several. This was my 3rd for weight loss.
I did stock up on stage 2/3 foods.
Get yourself a pair of slippers, bring some toiletries and you will be fine.
Good Luck
Good for you to write positive notes. Keep that practice up. I totally was both nervous and had the "bring it on" attitude. I was ready. Keep coming to this site and posting your feelings and look for answers. It helps me so much even now and I am a year out and 10 pounds from my goal weight. Listen to the doctors, when you are on protein shakes do take the miralax and I also needed the gummy fiber. This does work and the journey is a step ladder down.
Thank you everyone, This has been extremely helpful, I find myself started to relax more and really focusing on the process and the outcome..
