Fighting bad habits

I have been in therapy not only for WLS. But just because life made me go there. There are a lot of bad habits that made us obese. We can change.
Seeking a therapist who can help you is a good thing to do. Also track all of your food. One of the vets here said to drink a glass of water before you eat. Sometimes you are thirsty but it mocks hunger.
I try to schedule snacks in my daily plan that way they are planned.
If you don't mind, I am curious if the sweets make you feel ill? You wrote the best suggestion yourself--reaching out for help. Suggestions that stick out in my mind are: "find something you love and do it, get selfish, absorb yourself in the new you, routine is your best friend, make the most of the honeymoon period, and know you are worth it."
I don't believe there's anyone who had WLS who doesn't struggle at least part of the time. We were all very overweight, ate too much, and for many of us, followed those habits for decades. Otherwise, we wouldn't have needed the surgery.
I find that the more active I am, the less I want to snack. Nighttime is my worst time, because everything is winding down, and my mind wanders to snacks. During my losing stage, I just fought through them, because I knew in an hour or two they'd be gone, and I didn't want to sabotage my progress. It was not easy at all, but I'm glad I did it.

150 lost and maintaining!
Hi - I am 11 months out and 13 pounds to go. I crave bad foods and try to find other things to substitute. I do write down everything, and watch the protein and the water. Low carb, low fat. I didn't have a lobotomy just stomach surgery, so practicing new ways is just that -practice. I know you are in it to win it. I use overeaters anonymous online. It is really helping me change and have faith. I plan my food and give it to Angry Viking here on obesity help everyday. Try non to do this alone, we got fat alone and the answer is putting light on the problem. Good luck, I believe you will create your path.
