First week back on track
Some observations from my first week back on track with the pouch. I'm taking lots of suggestions from people here and I had read somewhere that fullness is gotten from slightly stretching the pouch. So I'm doing that with dense foods. I lessened my eating times to 3x per day instead of grazing all day. No more protein shakes for now. I'm eating quickly, like in 15 minutes so that I get that full feeling. Once my pouch is full I'm not drinking anything for a couple of hours. And strangely, once I resume drinking I still feel full, which is weird but I'll take it. A few hours later I get hungry and I drink water or fluids until it's time for the next meal. I haven't died from hunger, lol. And I lost 8 pounds. Yep, probably all water from eating wrong but I will take that too. I'm doing WW points instead of tracking calories cause the calorie numbers get my head going. So far so good. I wish I had heard more about how to eat once the pouch isn't new any more earlier, but that is water under the bridge. So far this feels doable, and I'm going to take it a day at a time and try to keep doing the right thing. I was riding my bike every night but this weekend I worked and was on call so I didn't get to. I'm hoping to ride a bit tonight, even if it is freezing in Florida, lol. You'd never know I'm from up north the way I've adapted to not tolerating the cold. :) Well, that's my update. Pretty good news and thanks to so many of the wonderful people here for the help. I will keep reading all the posts here and I wanted you all to know that I appreciate you.
It sounds like you're on the right track.

I'm glad to hear things are going so well! You've captured the essence of what works and that's eating dense protein for as many meals/snacks as possible. The satiety comes much more easily when we do that. And like you, I often feel 'full' hours after eating so I routinely delay drinking for a minimum of an hour.
I love how you've made the quiet transition - no muss no fuss. Quite honestly, I think you can be successful because of your ability to do that. You just take the info, incorporate it and not make it a 'big deal'. This stuff isn't earth shattering. We just have to do it.

Honestly, I'm not counting the protein grams. I'm eating protein first. I know tonight I had an Atkins frozen dinner cause I was out all day and that was 25 grams just for dinner. I don't think at this point that the malabsorbtion of protein is like it was at the beginning.
It's feeling a little old, meat and veggies.... meat and more veggies, lol. I know it's important though. Very tempting to overeat on fatty stuff. I'm not fat phobic but am fat aware. Fat has wonderful calories and is good for people who need to gain weight. Not me right now. I need to get something else to focus on besides food.
