New to the group Surgery Date has been set for the 26th....... All advice welcomed
Good Afternoon,
After many years of indecisiveness and trying everything under the sun for weight loss I am finally taking my control back and having surgery on the Jan 26. I think I am prepared but still find myself researching, reading blogs and thinking about this decision. I would love feedback from you guys about what to expect, suggestions for things to help me prepare and any words of wisdom. A little support goes a long way and I promise to pay it forward. I haven't told many about the journey I am taking... just finding this page and having an outlet is already making me breathe easier.
Thanks

I always love it when someone new to the journey joins in with both feet! Choosing the username BWthegreat, is a great touch! I think you'll find this a wonderful place to ask questions, get info, make friends. Alot of knowledgeable people wander around here, and you will find them invaluable in the months and years ahead. Even if "they" do love the Patriots.....GRIM!
I found organization to be my best friend right after my RNY. My wife had gotten all my fluids weighed out in 2 oz. cups. Jello, cream soups etc... It was easy to stick to servings. I was dizzy for a week after, and I just walked through it. You will have to quiet your mind at times of pain early so you don't hurt your wounds. PROTECT YOUR POUCH! You'll hear the alot. Let yourself completely heal, inside and out. It will take your insides twice as long.
Water, protein, supplements, everyday for the remainder of your time on earth.
Good luck BWthegreat on this all-encompassing trip.(smily emoji)
Hello. I am having surgery on Feb. 2nd... a week after you so I know how you are feeling. I am nervous and excited at the same time. I wanted to tell you to explore youtube.com as there is tons of Videos on there just search gastric bypass or weight loss surgery. It has been a great help to me for lots of info. on what to expect thru the whole process. Good Luck to you...we will be going thru the same stuff so hopefully we can help each other!! Best wishes for your upcoming surgery!!
HI, I have gastric bypass surgery RNY scheduled with Dr. Stanley Hoehn on February 1st, 2016, I was just out googling RNY surgery and came across this group and saw your post so I just signed up for this group. I have my last pre-op appointment with Dr. Hoehn tomorrow and get the bloodwork done, then all I have to do is wait for the surgery date to come I wish I could get it done tomorrow and not have to wait I know two people that are distant friends of mine that had the same surgery and they told me from the beginning just do it get it done don't second think it , It will be the best thing you ever did for yourself . I have another friend who just days ago had the sleeve done at KC Bariatric, She's been Hungry, Craving a cheeseburger , Pizza, just foods we were used to eating in the past so she's had some challenging days , having a hard time getting her water in so we'll focus on that, it will be better a few days down the road when she will have slightly better food choices from the recommended food choices in our notebooks. Have you already met all the appointments and requirements have you had your scope and all that and the blood work drawn? At my first dietitian appointment with Laura I weighed in at 251 pds. I'm 5' 4. I am now down to 235 pds. - I definitely should drop some more weight, when I do the liquid diet for one week prior to surgery, I have broth and sugar free jello packets I need to pick up the sugar free popsicles because one patient told me they basically lived on the popsicles before surgery and for a few days after surgery so I will get those I've been so happy with KC bariatric I'm so glad I picked that facility they make it so easy with all the appointments being right there and the surgery right there all in one location anyway it was cool to find you out here I hope to hear from you I'd like to keep in touch
