What's on Your Wednesday Menu, RNYers?

Can you wear it with a sweater now?  If your office is warm enough, you could take off the sweater and if people ask why you are wearing a summer dress, tell them you are hoping to make spring come early by dressing the part. :)  A rain dance of sorts.

It's more of a "wear to a summer wedding" dress. Definitely not okay for the office--no matter how many sweaters are over it! But I'm okay just admiring myself in it in the mirror :)

I am not a big clothes person...I LOVE that my clothes are no longer bedazzled(what is it with fat clothes and all the bling. Yes, lets put a bunch of rhinestones on my gut...THAT will help). But I do love how much my husband loves seeing me in jeans, so I wear them once in a while. hate them, but love him.

Busy week. On day 3 of 12 hour days. I have actually been building an extra 30 minutes in to my schedule so I can walk. Yesterday I managed to 17k steps!

caffe americano decaf with protein shake

Angry Chicken salad with Pork Rinds

Beef Fiesta Bowl(half of an atkins dinner)

egg flower soup(not really sure about this because it is restaurant but it is a whole food restaraunt and I just went with the highest count in my fitness pal)

swiss miss diet hot cocoa

Hi!  I have never posted on this thread before.  I have always wanted to, but at first, I thought "I am too new."  Then, I got busy.  And then, I thought, "It is too late!  Here I am a year out, and to start posting now?"

Well, here I am a year out, and I need more accountability.  So, here goes.  My plan for today:

Breakfast: 3/4 of a Fage cherry yogurt with 1 T almond paste (yes, it was too rich)

Lunch:  1/2 cup Lentil/ham soup

Dinner: Ricotta bake

Snack 1 (usually in the afternoon):  homemade hummus (1/4 cup) and 5 cherry tomatoes

Snack 2 (evening, before bed):  Wasabi/soy almonds (1/4 cup)

Liquids:  Throughout the day, I drink herb tea and also Crio Bru (this is like coffee but it is ground/roasted cocoa beans that you brew like coffee), with a little unsweetened soy milk added as a creamer.  I always start the day always with 2 cups of water/herb tea and my vitamins.  Then set out the tea and crio for the day and drink throughout.

Vitamins:  I set out my vitamins for the whole day.  It helps me when I do this the night before, in little dosing cups.  For today, I have taken my morning supplement but without the multis!  I am all out as of yesterday afternoon and must get to the store pronto.

Time since surgery:  1 year.  Have lost 95 pounds (don't know why the tracker does not show this accurately).  I need to lose 25 more, though my surgeon will give me a more firm goal, I hope, at my one-year followup next week.

Problems and goals:  I want to "finish strong," as my support group coach has suggested.  I have had trouble, especially over the holidays, with carb creep and grazing.  I have gotten out of the habit of tracking my food.  I want to return to:  (1) no grazing; (2) avoiding simple carbs until I reach goal; and (3) tracking what I eat.

Life challenges:  It has been such a hard year.  For two years, I have been working with a counselor regarding some difficult long-term family challenges.  This has been very painful work, and sometimes it is about all I can do to get through the day.  These issues are likely to never go away, and I am working on managing the pain and anxiety of that, in ways that do not contribute to weight gain again.

Clothes I love:  Wow!  There are so many cute things to love now!  My favorite outfit lately is a gray pencil skirt that I pair with a gray blousey blouse that has pleats at the neckline and hangs pretty across your bust.  I add a big two-strand pearl necklace that was my grandmother's, plus black tights, black pumps.  I always get a lot of compliments on that outfit.

I also have a fitted black sweater knit turtleneck that I adore.  I feel so pretty in it, and it is a great backdrop for larger necklaces.  I rarely dared wear big jewelry before losing weight--the attention to size!  Yargh!  But I have recently discovered a lot of beautiful Native American necklaces that my mother-in-law owned, which my husband got after she died.  I am now over 50, and maybe being that age makes us want to surround ourselves with spirit animals, as well as connect--through tangible things like jewelry--with women who are our "spiritual foremothers."  That kind of thing.

Happy Wednesday from the Poke mom.

Welcome and I'm so glad you decided to post. Please don't worry about how long it's been, or any of that crap. We are here because we all need accountability for our food choices. I'm really struggling and pushing myself to be as honest with you all as possible, because I'm finding that I have a problem with hiding what I eat. I never realized it before surgery, being deceitful about overeating and snacking, but it's there. I had 2 pieces of chocolate yesterday afternoon. I logged it in MFP, but didn't come back on and post it. From now on, I vow, I will post it here. It's embarrassing to post it, and I know it's a safe place to tell, so I'm going to do it.

I've been in therapy since 2 months post op. Like you, I have a TON of family related baggage. It has caused so many of my food related issues, and other issues as well. I know what it's like to deal with stuff, so if you ever feel like venting, feel free to send me a private message, I'm here with an ear and a hug.

I have to say my favorite things are my cowboy boots. My daughter makes fun of me since I tuck my pant legs into my boots. I told her when I was MO I couldn't do this and now I can. I also say my favorite thing is my bras.

It is freaking cold here today. I don't want to go outside. We don't have any snow thank goodness. I know it is cold when my dogs snuggle together.

B: Egg white omelet with ham

L:Insides of a turkey hoagie

D:Italian wedding soup. My take on it without the noodles

S:Yogurt or cheese stick

Water is going down. Vitamins are in for the morning.

Have a good day.

Good morning.  Thanks again for starting the threat Deanna!  Hope Kristen is ok! (I haven't read the whole thread, so Kristen if you've posted today, welcome back!)  At this moment in time, I don't have any clothing that makes me feel great.  I'm going through a phase where I feel ginormous.  I have loose skin around my middle and it's messing with my head.  I took my kick boxing class last night and all I could focus on was my extra skin muffin top.  I spent the whole class trying to pull my pants up as high as I could while tugging my shirt away from my middle.  I thought those days were behind me, but I'm slowly learning that I will always be the fat girl.  Sigh.  I'm wearing an outfit today that should make me feel good; dark skinny jeans, boots and an ivory sweater with a cut away back; but it just doesn't today.  I really need to shake the funk I'm in!  Can't wait to read the rest of the thread and see what outfits make you all feel great.  Maybe i'll get some inspiration!

Here's my plan:

B:  Chicken thigh

L: up in the air.  Our court reporters are catering a lunch, but I have no clue what they'll bring.  As a back up I have chicken breast and steamed veggies (the rest of my chicken bowl from yesterday's lunch)  I've entered that into my fitness pal and if I can eat what the reporters bring, I'll make the necessary adjustments

D: Salmon and broccoli

S: Light and Fit and PB; somersaults (or the rest of the Angry chicken I brought yesterday.)

Totals: Cal.: 953; Protein: 105g; Fat: 36g; Carbs: 43g

Have a great day!!

So our lunch turned out to be a do it yourself sandwich bar with sliced deli meats and cheeses; salads, pickles, etc.  I was able to make good choices by just having the meat and cheese.  I consider it a win because I was able to resist the Sprinkles cupcakes they had for dessert.  So, I'm back to edit my menu:

B: Chicken Thigh

L: 3.5 oz deli meat (split between roast turkey and roast beef); provolone cheese, cole slaw

D: Salmon and Broccoli

S: Light and fit and PB; somersaults

Totals: Cal: 1,083 (cheese pushed me over the 1,000 mark); Protein: 103g; Fat: 49g; Carbs 44g
