What's on your Tuesday Menu, RNYers?
Oh, AngryViking, where are you??? So, I waited until 10am EST to post this, in case Kristen was just running behind. I NEED this thread, it's like therapy for me, so here it is.
The weather here is nasty. We got a few inches of snow overnight and are expecting more throughout the day. I got to work about 15 minutes late, but only because I forgot that I had to get gas. I'm such a procrastinator. I also used one of those windsheild covers that keep the snow and ice from sticking to your windsheild. I LOVED it. All I had to do was peel that sucker off and I my windshield was completely clear. I put it on when I got here to work to, I should have very little snow clearing to do at 5. I do have a 2 car garage, but never ever park in there because it's so full of crap! I really need to get organized. I tell you, I'm about 2 steps away from being a hoarder.
My food plan yesterday was awesome, and I was really good until the evening. I ended up having half a power crunch protein bar, and then about 1/3 of a FlapJacked Mighty Muffin since I wanted to try it out. My calories ended up at 900, on the nose, which made me super sad. I like to keep it no higher than 850. At least I didn't eat popcorn!
Here's my plan for the day:
B: Baked banana oatmeal 142, coffee with cream and splenda 70
L: wonton wrapper quiche 159, light and fit 80
D: meatloaf 165 and steamed green beans 31
S: Pickle spear 5, 1/2 power crunch bar (so yummy), protein hot cocoa (unjury with fairlife) 90
Totals:
Cal 842 Protein 69 (Struggling here) carbs 67 (blame the oatmeal) fat 33
have a great day everyone!

Oops. Looks like we were posting at the same time. I'm copying and pasting my post here and then I'm going to delete my original!
Good morning everyone. I don't know about you, but I've been waiting with baited breath for the post to go up, so I just decided to start things off. AV, hope all is ok with you!
Question: what is your go-to restaurant order? I'm going to a bar for lunch today to check it out as a possible venue for an event. It amazes me that at almost 2 years out, I still sometimes struggle with piecing together the best options from a menu. Of course I (usually) pick a dense, lean protein, not sauce-y, sometimes I go sandwich and then don't eat the bread, and depending on who I'm with I also sometimes take into consideration how noticeable my not eating much will be. What about you guys?
Time since surgery: 22 months

E: BodyPump night, here's hoping I'm not as sore from this week as I was last.

Good morning,
Freezing here today, you'd think I'd be warm since i work for a heating company, but I'm wrapped up in my big old black sweater and have my little heater on under my desk.
My go to at a restaurant meal would be either steak or shrimp and I would choose the smallest item and it usually is 3 meals for me. That being said, I've only been out a handful of times since surgery. I have however had take-out Chef salad and Thai cashew chicken several times, those usually last 2-3 meals as well. Serving sizes can be so large. I'm dying for some chicken pad thai but don't want to have that huge amount of noodles, even if it is for 3 meals it is still too much. It always calls to me whenever I go by the Thai restaurant or my daughter orders it. As AV would say "Le sigh"
Time since surgery: 8+ months
B: Muscle Milk 100
L: Leftover mushroom asparagus frittata (yummy)
D: Chicken Soup w/veggies
S: Babybel and Mary's gone crackers and the Yasso bar that I didn't have last night.
Cals: 777 Carbs: 53 Protein: 70 Fat: 27
hhmmm at a restaurant I normally go with a salad. I STILL have issues with dense protein no matter how much I chew, so avoiding that in public is necessary for me. So chef salad...something along those lines. Soup maybe if my protein numbers are good for the rest of the day.
I'm a big fan of ordering a salad topped with a protein. My favorite is ceasar salad with grilled salmon. I eat the salmon, pick at the salad and no one seems to notice. I read threads all the time where servers, etc. notice how much you do or don't eat and make comments like "is everything ok" "didn't you like your order?" That never happens to me. Maybe it's because I live in Los Angeles where everyone is on a perpetual diet and the servers are used to people only eating part of their meal. Don't know, but I've never had anyone question why I was eating a small amount. Good luck with your lunch!
Oh, another thing I do is ask the server the portion size of the protein. That way I know how much to eat and how much to box up. Again, maybe it's living in Los Angeles, but I've never had a server question me or look at me like I'm crazy. They're always really accomodating and go to the kitchen to check for me. It really helps with portion control.

Good morning! Hope this means AV won the lottery!
I'm just under 6 months out from surgery and I still avoid eating out if I can, so I can't say I have a "go-to" yet. But I just generally try to find the lowest carb highest protein thing on the appetizer menu. No disasters so far!
B: Fit Frappe Chai
S: almonds
L: leftover spinach salad with bacon
S: cheese cubes
D: stuffed red pepper with ground turkey
Exercise
I came into work a few hours early today so that I can leave early and beat the snowfall home. If my plan actually works then I'll go to the gym tonight for a treadmill run. If not, I'll do some yoga and elliptical at home!
