Drinking too fast?
I was wondering if anyone has had trouble with drinking too fast? I can drink 16 ounces in about 20 minutes. I don't feel anything, however if I take too big of a drink than that is painful, but by in large if I take small sips I can drink rather quickly. Any thoughts? I am almost two weeks post op.
It souds like you are doing great.
If something hurts, slow down or stop. Drinking is the best thing you can do for your health at this point.

There is nothing bad that will happen if you drink "too fast". If you are not feeling any pain, then it's not "too fast". Since we have no pyloric valve with RNY, fluids run right through us. Take advantage of the fact that you can drink quickly. Staying hydrated is one of the most important things you can do early out from surgery. Doctors recommend a minimum of 64 ounces daily, but many of us drink double that amount. Just remember to never drink with your meals or for at least 30 minutes after you eat.
Carry on!
Sounds normal to me.
