Dumping or Norovirus?

Sounds like either a flu OR Food Poisoning. (What did you eat all day yesterday?)  ONE Hershey kiss as far out at you are should NOT cause a bout of RH or Late Dumping. (But I am also NOT a Doctor!)  RH Usually in me, never causes both heaving and diarrhea. That sounds more like Flu or Food poisoning.

RH usually has symptoms that kick in about 1 hr after the consumption of a sugary food and causes:

Shaking, sweating, confusion, sleepiness, nausea (Usually without vomiting).  If you test you blood and the values are around 50 or higher the symptoms usually go away after a rest or eating of some healthy protein. (Beef jerky, string cheese, protein bar etc).

If you test your blood and the values are BELOW 35/40 than you need to eat something with COMPLEX carb, and then your protein.

If you test your blood and the numbers are all normal, then chances are you have some kind of food poisoning (Which is really common) or a virus or some type of gastroenteritis.

Good luck. I know the cold/flu season is kicking into high gear now. Anytime you cannot HOLD down fluid voluntarily longer than 4-5 hrs during the day (Try different temperature fluids. Ice water, warm tea,  room temp fluids) then get on top of it and get some IV's once you are already dehydrated it just causes more problems.

Warmly,

Jackie

I have been hospitalized 4 times since October(my surgery date) for severe dehydration. I think if you are able to drink and tolerate fluids you will be fine. I couldn`t even drink fluids!!

I am wondering if you are feeling better:):)

I was definitely dehydrated by morning. I tried every temperature of liquids but nothing stayed down.

I still really don't know if it was food related or not--I feel like it was, but there's no way to know, now. I'll call my surgeon tomorrow to see what she thinks.

This morning I took Immodium and sugar free Gatorade and managed to make it the big work event from 11am to 6pm. I'm exhausted but not sick anymore.

I have reactive hypoglycemia. One kiss would not do it to me. Also diarrhea is not a normal side effect. Your mileage may vary - but I went and got a glucometer from Walmart. That was the only way to be sure.

I get hot, shaky, sweaty, confused... it sucks.

Regardless I hope you feel better.
