Hi Nikki! Thanks!
By the way, I read your blog as much as I can. I am currently "training," I say training but really its nothing like what you got goin on! But I am training for a 10km, I have not picked the actual race I will do, it will be somewhere in town as its just too expensive for us Canadians to travel to the US right now with our crap dollar. But my point is I love your blog, I am learning a lot from you as you go through this journey of Triathlons post surgery. My question for you is, what do you do for pain? Last night after my 5km on the treadmill my left knee was screaming at me! I went home took the dogs out for a hike (probably not the smartest thing) and when I got home from that walk with the dogs the knee pain was pretty bad. I got out my heating pad and all I could think about was OMG I need Advil! So wondering if you have any "tips & tricks" for this old girl?
Have a great weekend!
Daze
Pain is so much fun! (Holy sarcasm batman) Honestly I have found that muscle relaxers (rx) work the best for the aches and pains I used advil/aleve for previously. I also love a good ice bath (brrrr) but it really does help. Last but not least, if it is horrible (I had back spasms last summer) I went and got an anti-inflamatory shot right into the muscle. The doctors assured me it would not cause any ulcers and it worked amazingly well.
I am sore a lot. But I always find its the good kind of sore (meaning its worst when I get up from sitting or first thing in the morning) and it goes away quickly with movement.
GOOD LUCK ON YOUR RACE!! I so want to do Ironman Mont Tremblant or Ironman Mukoka some day! Maybe soon if I have more buying power!! ;)
Also, thank you for reading my blog. At least I know someone reads it ;)
