School & gastric bypass??
If you're off of pain killers by then, I think you'd be ok. I was in the hospital for 5 days, so this would not have worked for me. :(

While I was in college 10 years ago, there was a service provided for students with health issues where a van would pick them up and drop them off where-ever they needed to go. Can you find out if your college can help this way? It really helped me with my arthritic knees when I didn't have to walk for blocks to get from parking to class and back.
If you make sure you nap as needed while you have the time, you'll probably be OK.
Thanks everyone for your responses ! I was trying so hard to get my surgery done over the break but it got pushed back :( it's all good though, I will learn and adjust! My mom (14 years post op) says I'm being naive about the pain after and assuming I can go to class and walk just fine. She was also cut wide open when she had her RNY and 12 years older! I think it's safe to say the surgery has evoked and changed since then... Although I wish they'd take the unused portion of my stomach out
I had my surgery over spring break so that I wouldn't have to go back to classes until 10 days after surgery. I would not have been able to go back much sooner, and that was hard enough. The first week after surgery, I was completely useless and couldn't focus enough to get anything done, let alone my reading for class. The first day in class was terrible, and I really wished that I had a full two weeks to recover. After that, my biggest struggle was carrying my backpack. You will have a lifting restriction for the first six weeks. I have to bring my laptop to class to take notes, so there was just no way around that. I ended up leaving all of my books at home for those weeks so that I could carry my laptop. But even that was really pushing it. So make sure you plan for that too.
