Overeaters Anonymous?

Yes, I've been a member for years.  I was going before my WLS and I continue to go because I know - as you are learning - that surgery only addresses part of the problem.

Surgery is a fantastic tool but I also continue to need the tools of OA, therapy with an expert in eating disorders, exercise, tracking my food, periodic medical check-ups.

I urge you to give OA a chance - there you'll be surrounded by other people who've all done the same crazy **** with food that you have.  It really does feel like coming home :-)  If you don't care for that particular meeting (each one has a different "feel) then try another one.  There are also hundreds of online and phone meetings going on at all times of day.

I encourage you to check out some of the OA literature at your local library too.

I hear you too about the over-spending - as soon as I get one compulsive behavior under control another one tends to pop up.  Why do you think so many WLS patients have issues with alcohol? Our overeating was a symptom of a much, much bigger problem and it takes more than surgery to fix it.

Best of luck - let me know how it goes!
