First Dumping Experience
Phew, Okay, now I think I really get this: It's not just sugar or high carbs...I've been avoiding those things like the plague for fear of dumping... but there is clearly more to it.
Last night I ate some tomato soup beefed up with some parm cheese and greek yogurt (for protein). I ate the same thing for lunch yesterday and had no problems. But last night I ate too much too fast. Was talking with hubby while he ate his dinner of pork chops, potatoes and sauerkraut. He eats very fast and I was excitedly telling him about my shopping trip with my 80 year old mother as I got into and purchased smaller clothing. I just wasn't paying attention. We finished eating in about 10 minutes flat and about 10 minutes later, I hurt. I felt nauseous. I was sweating and I just wanted to lay down. I had eaten almost 1/2 cup of my soup and normally, I cannot eat that much.
So, I know I must not push the limit of quantity or speed in eating. Glad I was home and not at work.
tomatoes have lots of sugar ... yogurt has lots of sugar -= the combination can be "very interesting..."

yogurt is made from milk. Milk has sugar. it is called lactose. 12 gr of sugar per 1 cup. Read the label...
in many cases - our body does not care if sugar is from fruit or milk or beets or sugarcane or HFCS. All of them are natural - some more processed than others... Sugar is sugar...

Okay, I read the label. The Fage that I use has 9 grams of sugar for a CUP! Since I'm only able to consume about 1/4 cup of anything, I measured my soup and added a scant tablespoon of yogurt. There are 16 tablespoons to a cup, so I added about .53 grams of sugar to the soup.
Honestly, I feel I ate it much too fast.

whatever.. you probably ate too fast... and got sick.. so you did not dump..
Dumping happens because of too much sugar,,, not because someone ate too fast...
Eating too fast may cause stomach upset...
BTW; from your early comment - "Last night I ate some tomato soup beefed up with some parm cheese and greek yogurt (for protein). " since you added the yogurt to add proteins - it was logical to assume you added more than 1 Tbs... but what do I know - right?

That is most likely exactly what you did. I am 7 months out and have dumped 3 times thus far. Each time it was from eating to fast or to much. Sugar in small quantities is usually not a problem for most people. We both need to remember to slow down. BTW, I also did not know this before surgery.
Eating too fast or too much is not dumping. They aren't at all alike.
