Iron-- WWYD?
I am with Kim on this. Heme iron is the only one that brought my levels back quickly.
Sometimes its trial and error to find the right supplement for your needs. The important thing as stressed by Grim and others is to keep on top of your labs.
Easier and better to treat a downward trend then a complete deficiency. You have the time and interest to watch your own labs. The medical staff will only look for numbers outside the range. You need to watch the trends and react
As usual, Grim is spot on!
If it were me, I'd stick with the carbonyl iron and up the dosage if I felt like I needed to, and redo labs in 3 months. ( I take 150 mg of the Sundown Perfect Iron and 1000 mg of Vit C every night. ) I've never had any problems with the carbonyl making me feel sick or getting constipated.
My ferritin levels started trending down about a year out. I wasn't taking extra iron at time, it was in my vitamin already, but I must not have been absorbing it. I switched to Centrum Silver and started with the carbonyl iron. Levels are back up and have stabilized.
I woke up in between a memory and a dream...
