Day 5. Struggling. I want real food
Thanks everybody. Funny enough, as soon as I wrote this and hit submit, I felt much better. Maybe I just needed to whine a little bit and get it out of my system. Lol. Thanks for letting me gripe and complain. Today is a new day. My pain is much less than yesterday which gives a better perspective on everything.
Oh boy, do I get where you are at! I am 2 weeks post op and so very head hungry :)!! At one week (on our doc's plan)we are allowed cottage cheese, ff refried beans, yogurt, plain hummus, and sugar free pudding. I HATE sugar free stuff, but have found that sugar free vanilla pudding, with 3/4 scoop of Unjury unflavored protein powder really helps. I am so shocked that I can tolerate the Unjury brand of protein powders. I searched long and hard to find one pre-surgery and my doc suggested the Unjury. The unflavored really and truly disappears from the pudding with a few good stirs. Who knew I would be counting the days until I can puree food! I know, its temporary, but..geez! MY husband is calling this food boot camp. So, more protein for me - sir, yes sir!!! Best of luck!

I gotta ask...I assume you are allowed 2ozs of the SF pudding. Are you saying that you mix a 1/2 scoop of the unflavored Unjury into 2oz of the pudding and the pudding flavor does not change? If so, all I can say is damn, I should have tried it!

Go to www.dashingdish.com and look up their protein shake recipes. I found that when I started making my own at home (and I started with their recipes), they didn't taste manufactured or processed. Also, I used crushed ice and made them slushy like instead of just liquid. That helped me a lot! You've got this!!!
OMG, a year out and I still remember one night, about a week out, that I just wanted one bite of REAL food. And the dog get letting out these NASTY farts. I was naseated and hungry at same time. Took pain med and went to bed. Like you, I was not going to cheat, but I was glad that I felt better when I woke up in the morning. I hope you get through this phase quickly,
Sharon
Thanks so much everyone! Thanks for that website teacher mom. I will look it up. For now, I have just given in to drinking the premier protein. I tried aloha with ff milk but then my shake was 285 calories instead of 160 calories with the premier protein. I also had some puréed pea soup that was delicious but my calories were higher yesterday than any day so far. That scared me. I don't want to go to high on the calories so soon. I do feel hungry but am assuming it's head hunger? I shouldn't feel hungry so soon after surgery right?
