White knuckle week ahead

This will be a white knuckle week for me. Thanksgiving wasnt any sort of issue, but Christmas....geez.

I've been good at avoiding stuff in the office. Popcorn tins, candy and cookie trays are everywhere. Then my bosses boss handed out gift to the executive staff. A box of damn cookies. Ugh. I ate one, and offered the rest to my staff, still had to bring a few home. I'm tossing them in the freezer.

But at home are cupcakes and brownies I made for my kids. Save me the get it out of the house, it's a holiday and my kids specifically asked for this. I just have to deal, which I'm doing.

I will indulge on the holiday but not every day leading up to it and after it. I may try and add an extra day exercise in. I increased my activity goals since I've been pretty regularly meeting what I had set.

May the force be with you all!

Same for me.  I've slipped up a few times,  but today reset and passed by the cookies at work.  Tomorrow is our holiday luncheon,  but I vow to go Protien forward only. Logging everything to keep me honest.

Hang in there and know that you are not alone.

I'm with you. This is the time of year I would always over do it.  The sweets are my weekness. I still bake but the fear of getting hooked back on sugar has kept me in line. My house is full of sweets and I have baked for 3 days and have not touched a single sweet. My will power is growing stronger each day. I'm right there with you white knuckling my way thru Christmas.

Sounds as though you;ve got a plan.  I try to remember to indulge in selecting a diverson -but always  respect the volume of the food.

It's a little counter-intuitive that we are better eating the cookie or 2 rather than the substitute veggies and then having the cookie anyway because we may overfill the pouch.

I find if I leave the goodies in the car or basement, I forget they are there.  Manage the risk, don't expect to get through on 'will power' alone.

PS I went to see Star Wars and it was sold out - maybe later.

The problem for me is not eating crap on Cristmas Eve and Christmas day. I plan on eating crap on those days. It's the 2 weeks leading up to it, and two weeks after that kill me.

I totally agree.  It's the weeks before and the week after.  Then after January 1, I literally throw out anything that doesn't need to be here and that is NOT healthy.  My friends/family get upset, but it's my way of dealing.

I wish everyone strength over the next two weeks!

There may be slip-ups.. But if you are a dumper (like me) there would be price to pay..  I know.

But... There are other ways to deal with that.

Most of the time my way, the good way, is to make my own - just for me, cookies, muffins, cake. And have that with me at all time.

I baked brownies, and cookies for parties. There are in the house right now. Plus tons of chocolate..

But I also have homemade SF chocolate candies (with stevia,  not SA) , cake, cookies and "bread" I baked just for me.

So most of the time (except last night) I eat just that... I just made sure my treats they are yummy...

Simple recipe:

1 cup of almond butter

1/2 cup of unsweet shredded coconut

3 eggs

1/2 cup water or almond milk

Pinch of salt,  vanilla or other flavor..

stevia (or splenda. Or Erythritol or any other non calorie sweetener) equivalent to 0.5-1 cup of sugar

To make that "holiday fancy" I add a few chopped nuts and a cap of fresh or frozen cranberries.. (raisins or blueberries will work also)

Mix it well... Make 12-24 muffins ...or a 9x 9 cake..(11x7 thinner one)

Baked at 350 Until done (15-30-40 min) - check for doneness.
