What's on Your (photo) Friday Menu, RNYers?
Morning AV, and the rest of you awesome peeps!
I think it was the opposite for me today, AV. I have a 25 minute drive, and it took my about the same time, but I found myself cursing and weaving in and out of traffic. I live just west of Detroit Metro Airport, and I work less than a mile from the airport itself, and I gotta say, there was a ton of traffic. But what I really noticed was the truck traffic. Interesting fact, Detroit Ambassador Bridge is the busiest port along the northern border for truck traffic. I work for a Customs broker, and we keep track of this kind of thing. Anyway, that means that we have A LOT of truck traffic here, and you get used to dodging them, and getting stuck behind them, and cursing at them when the cut you off. I try to be very respectful, because my step-dad was a long haul trucker for years before he had a stroke and was unable to drive anymore. He also rides a motorcycle, and I used to work for a small motorcycle parts supplier, so I'm very careful and aware of them when I'm driving as well.
I had cookies yesterday. My boss didn't bring any cookies in with her in the morning, so I thought I was safe. Then her husband showed up with a tin of cookies! I mean, really? I held off for over an hour, but I finally gave in. I had a tiny piece of shortbread, less than an inch square, and then I had a raspberry filled keiflie. I logged them as best I could, and I stayed under900 calories yesterday, but my carbs were at 72. I will do better today.
I skipped yoga last night, my husband got called away and had to drive to Peoria for work, so it was just me and the boys. That meant my dinner plans changed, but I still did really great. I ordered from a pizza place, but I got my oldest a small pizza, I got a salad and plain unbreaded wings for me and the baby. I ate two wings and some greek salad with no dressing. Overall, it was the healthiest take out that I've had to date. But by the time I got the baby a bath, and put him to bed (he's getting a mild cold), it was after 8:30 and I was spent.
My scale is still defying me, but I'm maintaining and think that those damn cookies are keeping me from my goal. I tried to get my boss to move the tin of cookies out of our office and into the shared lunchroom to keep them out of my line of sight, but it's a no go. I guess it will be will power alone that keeps me in line today.
Here is my pic for Photo Friday. This is me, this morning, on casual friday. No makeup, hair a mess, and feeling fabulous despite it all.

I'll be doing yoga tonight since my hubby will be home to keep the baby from climbing on me while I do it. I honestly have so much respect for single moms who handle toddlers by themselves. It's exhausting, and if I didn't have my husband to tag team with me, I would be totally overwhelmed.
Oh, I forgot, NYE plans!
We have friends over every year. The last two years have been Cards Against Humanity. We let out teenagers play with us, and it's hilarious when they have to say things that make them blush. My oldest takes the opportunity to cuss as much as humanly possible. The kids always try to shock us with their answers, but in the end we always embarrass them with our answers, especially if they have a sexual theme to it.
The greatest joy in my life on New Years Eve is embarrassing my 16 year old. Does that make me a horrible mom?
Happy Friday all! I also am not taking any time off for Christmas or New Years since I had Thanksgiving off. For NYE my sister, her hubby and my nephew come over and we either play games or watch movies and usually watch the ball drop with the East Coast crowd and in bed by 10p (it's always a long day for me at work so I am ready to get to bed!) Crossing my fingers that my hubby has time to stop at Macy's on his way to work, they open at 7a and I saw a purse I want and it's on doorbuster for 19.99 and I have 15.00 Macy's "cash".

Have a great one!
Happy Friday everyone! For NYE plans I will probably not even make it to stay up to midnight so no excitement here for sure! I would love to say I had exciting plans but is not the case. It was 27 when Lily and I walked our 3.2 miles this morning. Neither of us were too eager but we did it anyway. Also will do another 11/4 before bed. If I get bored I may do some bike time too. Really working hard to keep from gaining now even with good eating. Weight today 122.6 and on track with fluids and vitamins too. Here's the eats B 1/2 c steel cut oats with extra protein and 1 T peanut butter L 1 c ham and beans from last night (yummy) D 31/2 Oz ground beef and 1/2 c green beans S pumpkin cheesecake Greek yogurt. Have a great weekend everyone and make some smart choices!
Hi Kristen and all! No pics to post this week, but if you are on Instagram, my plastic surgeon is featuring my before and after pics on his Instagram. Check it out at @drjosephmichaels :) I am super excited - a gal I met on OH who happens to live 7 blocks from me (no joke) had an 11 hour+ surgery with him yesterday for an LBL, BL and AL...and last night at 10 pm she texted me she was feeling good, and this morning she says she is doing great and already walked and the hospital is taking great care of her. That puts a big smile on my face since I know she was fearful heading up to it.
I do something different every year for NYE because I generally take advantage of Christmas to travel (we have a few days off and work tends to be slow). Last year I was in Tunisia! This year, I am going to Scotland, so I will be in Edinburgh on NYE and they have a giant crazy city-wide celebration called Hogmenay. I am quite excited.
Part of my menu is up in the air today since I have a 2 year old's birthday party and dinner with friends after. I also totally skipped my workout class this morning and I am feeling super guilty about it.
B: 2 hard boiled eggs, coffee with cream
L: Crab, mango, diced red pepper and red onion, avocado; on toast points
S: Perhaps leftover turkey meatloa*****ta get that protein in!
D: TBD
My calories have been around 1,800 a day and obviously I am not losing weight with that many calories, so I am going to have to buck up and eat less to get back to 160-165. God I wish I was still hard core about my eating and staying on plan like that first year after RNY!
Have a wonderful weekend all, and I hope the Christmas spirit finds you! No snow in DC but today it's cold :)
I love love loved Tunisia! I went with a friend last Christmas for 8 days and we visited Tunis, Matmata, Chenini, Tataoine, Chott-El-Jerid, Douz, Ksar Gilane, and Tozeur. We slept in the Sahara, we off-roaded, we visited Bedouin towns, we tried gazelle horn, we had the best rotisserie chicken of my life, I drove all around the country asking people for directions, and basically met the most wonderful people! I don't know why more people don't visit!
