An Uncomfortable Hug

Next time you know you will see him get a ***** stick it down your pants and when he comes in to give you that hug make sure you rub up close to him and say "how you doing" and smile.  I bet he won't be hugging you any more. 

The part where Grim said to just sneeze on him...along that train of thought the next time you see him you could tell him you are just getting over something and don't want to get to close.  Cough a little for added effect.

I am an artistic dance roller skater.  Many moons ago I had a gay partner.  Once when I was stretching with one leg up on a bar, he came up behind me and I almost fell.  I said, "Wow, you almost made me fall, and you would have landed on me".    His reply, "Ugh," he was so disgusted with the idea.  I always laugh when I think about this incident.  So, although you didn't ask, next time he hugs too tight, just make a simple disgusting sound.  He'll get the message loud and clear-- I sure did.

I think you would be well within your rights to step back from him and (without a smile or an apology) just say "Please, don't".  

He has no right to touch you without your permission, tacit or not, and you have every right to your personal autonomy without any excuse.

If if that doesn't work, then it's OK to shove him away and say strongly "DON'T" (in the most ladylike way possible).

Comes a time in our lives when we have to stand up for ourselves.

Too bad it's at work, else you could run the other way and think about all the calories you were burning.

 Seriously, this was just a new situation.  You do look good - but you don't need some as-hole to tell you that. You will find a way to reassert your boundaries - Stella hot her Grove Back and so will you.  Blow the whistle on this creep.

Drop a copy of your company's sexual harassment policy in his mail slot or interoffice envelope.  No matter what your position, you should not have to put up with feeling uncomfortable.  So don't.

I had a very similar experience yesterday!  I work in the benefits department for a construction union.  Most everyone is male.   It is customary for the half hug cheek peck at the holidays...yesterday, however, it was more like long hug and full on mouth kiss from more than one of the guys.  I was very uncomfortable and my boss just chuckled when I said something about it.   lesson learned, staying behind the bullet proof glass from now on!

What's even more of a coincidence--- the huger I'm describing is a union official. I guess they teach this behavior among union folk! 

I was a Teamster. We never hugged.
