Good for you!!! They got me up around midnight of my surgery day, approximately 6 hours after I got into my room.  I then walked every 2-4 hours and felt great. Yes, it was sore the first couple of times I got up and walked around, but the more I got up and walked the better I felt.  It is amazing when  your nauseaous, a walk fixes it, have gas, a walk fixes it... pain, also gets better with a walk.
Good luck.... you are doing great!!!

I walked a lot yesterday! I think I may have over fine it a little. I had to ask for pain meds to be able to get some rest. I feel better this morning. Still very sore. I will be getting discharged today! Yea! They just removed my drain. Man was that an interesting feeling.

thanks everyone for the well wishes and encouragement!

Congratulations!! I am almost 6 weeks out and still have the dry mouth thing. I just think of it as a tool to get in all of the fluids.
