Feeling a little alone. Getting in the fluids and water in between is tough. The Advantage vitamins are gross. What can I use for nausea?

You can call your surgeon for a prescription for nausea.  The likely culprit for your nausea is dehydration.  The first symptom of dehydration is nausea and headache.  Set a timer and drink a little every 15 minutes.  Try drinks of different temperatures.   I could not drink anything cold for months after surgery, but hot herbal teas worked great.  Don't worry about getting all your protein in right now.  Fluids are the most important thing until you start feeling better.

I agree, you may be playing with dehydration.  How much fluid are you getting?  I found that adding a few squirts of Crystal Light Liquid to my 24oz Blender Bottle of water helped me to get my fluids.

In addition, drinking 2 Premier Protein ready made shakes is good for a total of 22oz of fluid and gives me 60 grams of protein.  Any additional intake of protein is a plus but at least the minimum is covered.  I also enjoy a cup of decaf coffee and/or a cup of hot green tea.  Sometimes I put a scoop of protein powder in a cooled cup of decaf coffee.  I found Unjury Unflavored Protein Powder doesn't change the texture or flavor of my coffee.  It's 21g of protein.

As for vitamins, I am not allowed to start them until this coming Monday, 10 days out.  I was told to only add 1/day to be sure they agree with me.

My surgeon had me take Prilosec OTC for the first six weeks post-op, just to stave off the nausea.

Stay hydrated;  it doesn't have to be water.  Popsicles, herbal teas, Snapple Diet tea, room-temp water with a squirt of lemon or lime.  I could do hot or room temp, but very cold liquids hurt my temperamental pouch.

I used the Centrum Chewables right out the gate.

Your next challenge will probably be being constipated.  When that starts to happen, keep stool softeners, Miralax, and/or Milk of Magnesia, and use as needed.

Thank you! I didn't know Prilosec helped nausea. I take Prevacid for reflux. I appreciate the feedback!

The reason for the Prilosec working to eliminate nausea is that when food backs up into the esophagus from our new little pouch, our body's response is nausea to expel the excess food.

Do be sure to consult with your physician before starting any meds, even OTC.

Good luck!

I am 6 days out..I only had nausea one time and I just stopped drinking till it was done. Not sure what it was from, but care not to experience again.  Only thing I can suggest is a call to the physician.?
