Post-RNY question!
good morning, i had my bypass done on tuesday and am home and doing quite well. but i have not had a bowel movement since before my surgery. obviously, i have been taking in so little that there would not be much...and i do not have any pain or any other symptoms that would make me worry. i just thought i'd ask about others' experiences: my surgeon told me i would be constipated and to just take some prune juice (i started that this morning, but diluted so that i didn't get too much sugar at once). anyone willing to speak on this kind of personal subject? thank you!
My surgery was Tuesday as well. I did have a very small BM yesterday, but nothing since. I was told by the nursing staff and resident MD that it takes a while for our insides to wake back up after such a surgery. The RN told me that our bowels kind of shut down automatically when there is a trauma to them. Our surgery is a trauma.
Are you passing gas? If so don't worry to much about it yet. If you are passing gas things are moving along the way they should. Right now we have so little in our bowels that there isn't enough to get rid of.
