Made it to the losers bench!! Long post!
surgery was scheduled for noon yesterday. Got a call that it was moved up to 11.
Bowel cleanse was not a pleasant experience at all, but got through it. When I woke up I was dizzy and nauseous. It was due to dehydratin and lack of food.
Got t hospital, still having diarrhea issues. I wasn't seated more than 5 min when they called me back to get me ready. Changed into gown - they got my weight, lost 5.2 pounds from liquid diet. So yay for that. Was so greatful for a great nurse- iv went in the first time! Last time for my endoscopy they blew 3 veins.
so they tested my sugar (though I'm not diabetic but on metformn due pcos). And it was 65. I ended up with glucose in my iv bag. Once I was going on the fluids, I felt much better. Got a shot of heparin in thigh to prevent blood clot. They came in and did a block on both sides of abdomen and off I was. I don't remember anything else until I woke up.
i was on a pain scale of 10. Severe nausea and pain. They kept putting more shots in my iv.
got the pain down to a 6-7. Dad, husband and mom came in- I was so out of it and in pain. Husband said I had no color in my skin. I'm super pale so that was a big deal.
got up at 6 to walk for the first time. Still was having nausea and my back was in terrible pain from laying there for many hours. I have 2 bulgeda disks and arthritis from a drunk driver hitting us 15 years ago. Saw the doc after that- he asked where my pain pump was ?? I said no one gave me one. Don't think he wa s happy about this. So needless to say, I got a pain pump with morphine in it and I feel a million times better since!!
catheter comes out this morning and I might get to come home this afternoon!! Sorry for the long post and misspelling- wanted to write while on my mind. Plus it is 4 am and everyone keeps waking me up!
Sorry you had a tough time. Hat's off to that doctor who got you the morphine pump stat.
You're on your way now - I hope it's clear sailing from now on!
Sharon
Glad to hear your doing well. I haven't slept for more than 15 minutes all night! Cheers to our new selves!
