Severe stomach pain last night
Ok, so, I am 18 months out from RNY surgery. I had plenty of complication from a stenosis in my esophagus at the beginning but otherwise have done very well. BUT recently and especially last night, I have woken up in severe pain. The pain is so sharp and intense that I literally cannot move. It feels like gas pain but involves my entire abdomen. My husband found some pepto tablets last night and they did help. My question is this, I know it's not normal to have pain like that but is it something to go to my doctor with or not? Also has anyone else experienced anything like this and what did you do?
I would make an appointment. I know that any pain that will hurt me that bad is worth checking out. I'm only 4.5 months out, but I was having severe abdominal pain, at about 2.5 months out so I went to the ER. Turns out I was just really constipated and didn't realize how long it had been since I had a BM, but to me it's better safe than sorry.
If it's happening repeatedly, and it hurts that bad, you should at least discuss it with your doctor.
It could be a whole bunch of different things, from ulcers, different kinds of hernias, impaction, etc. You really should get it looked at.

ANY severe pain that's "not normal," WLS patient or no, no matter which body part, merits a call to the doctor.

Never ever ever assume post-RNY abdominal pain is due to the RNY alone.
I found that out the hard way a month ago when my appendix blew up and I spent a week in the hospital with peritonitis.
Get it checked out.
