I hope the labs the NP requested will help you.  I have had leg cramps for at least 20 years, and I only had my WLS a year ago!  A few years ago, I learned that magnesium, for me, made a huge difference.  I now regularly take magnesium, every night.

Best of luck to you finding out what the problem is.

I seem to have lucked out on surgeon's as well as a good gp. Surgeon was able to help Me with getting ulcer diagnosed. Gp is great for most everything else. I was going to a different gp  who was never available so always got seen by the np. She was the worst ever. Horrible attitude and did nothing to help me with my medical issues. Wrong diagnosis, wouldn't refer me to where I needed to be seen and actually intimated I was crazy and making things up.  Office always ran late at that. Last straw was when I was in the car feeling really bad. My daughter went in and was treated so badly s he came out and said that's it. You are getting a new doc.  He is great, on time and listens to what I am saying. My daughter liked him s o much she switched too.  Wish I could say he was able to cure my issues but it turned out to be lupus. On right med but still have good days and not so good ones.

Yeah, good luck with that.  Most GPs don't know, either.  For common sense info, try the folks here who've had to live through the problems.  I know it's not a good idea to self-diagnose health problems online, but with this particular post-op stuff, those folks on this site are a good source of info.  Remember:  YMMV.

When I had leg or hand cramps I would take a magnesium dose, along with some Calcium Citrate, and eat a banana, along with water.

I don't know which supplement worked, but it was usually only 20 minutes before I got relief.

I haven't had an episode of leg or hand cramps in a lot of months.

I can totally see your frustration but your weight loss Doctor is right. This is not an issue for your surgeon but an issue for your family doctor. Then if your family doctor feels you need to return to see him it would be arranged. That's how the process works. If every pt called the surgeon about weight loss issues he would never have time to perform any surgery.

Sorry but that's the way it is. Your family doctor is more than knowledgable to order blood work and correct your potassium or any other issue related to your surgery.

That the way the process works.

Your dr. Is more than able to fix this.

Good luck

WOW, that is crazy, In the past 2 years and change I have had maybe 3 times I contacted the surgeons office for some issue that could or could not be related to surgery.  I'm talking like after a year out.  Like pain after eating or I think once I just wasn't feeling right.  They got me in almost immediately and I even saw the surgeon himself on at least 2 of these occasions.  They have never pawned me off. They may make the recommendation to also see my GP if they think its something other than surgery related.  I really appreciate the customer service I get with my surgeons office even now.  Staff and surgeon!

I hope you get this figured out!
