Day 6 Post-op
I have been plagued with the liquid in-liquid out "syndrome" since the day following surgery. At my 4 day surgery follow up, my doc gave me a suggestion on how to get it under control. Her suggestion has helped, but not yet cured the situation.
Aside from the above mentioned "syndrome" everything seems fine. I can't say great because I am so cold all the time from losing body insulation (aka fat), and I am so tired. How long will this tiredness continue?
I'm having to push myself to eat and sip. I am never hungry. As for drinking water, I thought I was doing fairly good with it but I had a wakeup call last night. I noticed that my urine was getting dark. I immediately began pushing more water. By morning my urine had returned to a pale yellow. I dodged that bullet but need to be concious of constantly drinking water.

Good for you for reaching out and being in tune to your body. I'm only (almost) 3 weeks out so I'm not going to be much help but this is a great place to get answers. Its gets easier I promise. I had the opposite problem and didn't have a bowel movement for Almost a week. Either way it sucks. Hang in there! Happy weight loss!

"I may not be there yet, but, I'm closer today than I was yesterday."
I for one cannot for the life of me possibly get in all the liquid I am supposed to. I am day 3 post-op and I was advised to get 2 L per day, whi*****ludes my liquid protein supp. (it amounts to about 1L). So far I have barely managed to get all the protein in, let alone another full litre of fluid!
I am full nearly all of the time and simply cannot fit all this liquid in. Was told protein in the most important thing, so I'm focusing on that, then trying to add as much water as I can. It's hard to strike a balance--we were told to drink slowly, sip only a bit at a time, yet get in a ridiculous amount of liquid in over the course of the day. In the hospital, we were told to start at 1-2 oz per hour and work up to 3-4 oz per hour. Now if we have to drink 64 oz per day minimum (2L) this works out to drinking constantly over 10hrs if you do 6oz per hour....so it's a big job.
I have not noticed a difference in the colour of my urine, but am trying to get more liquid in, without stretching the pouch or feeling overfull all the time.
"The mind is its own place; and of itself can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven."
Drinking your required water in the first week or so can be challenging....but it is required. As soon as I slacked on my intake, I started having bowel issues. As soon as i got back on the regiment, it corrected. You are home, not working, and yes it is a job....so clock in and start drinking. I am am a little over a month post op and drinking my required intake is easier and more natural. I purchased a large fitness cup that had measurement lines and hour markers on it to help me keep track of it. Best of luck to you.
