Good Morning all!  So, I have a food related confession.  We're all friends here, right?  LOL  I did something last night that I haven't done since pre-surgery:  binge.  Well, not in the same volume that I used to; my stomach just won't allow that.  But it was the same in that my sense of desperation was palpable and I was almost in a fugue-like state as I followed up my sensible dinner with a bowl of Apple Jacks, some trail mix and a slice of pannetone with Brummel & Brown.  This was all consumed before any sense of fullness set in.  And when it did?  Holy **** I was in some serious pain for a while.  Why the hell did I do that?  I clearly wasn't hungry in the physical sense.  I can point the finger at PMS, but I think that's a cop-out.  I need to own it (which is why I'm telling you guys) and figure out some coping mechanisms, I guess.  Ugh.  I will always be a fat kid on the inside, no matter what I look like on the outside.  LOL

I hear you on needing to figure out a new coping mechanism. I was depressed this weekend and didn't really know what to do to help myself. I didn't binge, but maybe I would have if I actually had food in my house at the time. Any suggestions peeps? :)

Kristen, it's OK, I am amazed this is the first time you have ever done it!  I tend to do it about once every other month.  It's always when I'm stressed or sick (the times I always ate nothing but carbs in large quantities pre-surgery).  I always feel so nasty afterwards.  You have owned it, you know it felt horrible, try and think of that the next time it happens.  I always "try" to stop for a few seconds and think "do I really need/want this?" "how is this going to make me feel?".  It seems to stop a lot of binges before they start.   You are among friends.

I planned on going to the doctor for my shoulder yesterday but it started to get better on its own.  I too did something last night I haven't done since surgery.  I took 2 ibuprofen.  I know I shouldn't.  I have had ulcers in the past but my shoulder feels good as new this morning.  Has anyone's dr said anything about very rare use of NSAIDs?

Time since surgery: 17+ months

L: 1 oz hard salami and low carb tortilla

Yes, when I hurt my back I was allowed to take 1 500 mg advil twice a day for 5 days.  No longer though. I would definitely check with your surgeons office though.

Thank you!  It helps to know I haven't completely gone off the rails.

Glad the shoulder is doing better. At support group I have heard that some do use ibuprofen on occasion but I don't know if they have had prior ulcer issues. Maybe give your surgeon's office a quick call and run it by them, ya know just in case :)

My doc isn't opposed to the very occasional use of NSAID's. Honestly, it wasn't till I started reading these forums that I realized people took these daily. I could probably count on one hand how often I've taken Motrin etc in life. (I've always preferred Tylenol). Problem probably lies the the term "occasional"-- that can be a very subjective term.
